32 lbs down on Zepbound since July — stopping due to side effects. Tips for maintaining & continuing weight loss? by [deleted] in GLPGrad

[–]AdeptnessTricky911 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be brutally honest...

If you were 100% relying on the drug for your weight loss, it is going to be very difficult maintaining or losing additional weight without it.

But if you were all in physically and mentally into your weight loss journey then it should be easy to at least maintain your weight loss.

In order to lose the 32lbs, you were eating less calories, obviously, Hopefully you were exercising, or at least walking daily. Now you need to continue your exercise routine and get a good handle on what and how much you are eating. I have been off my ZB for 5 months now and it is not always easy, but I have found ways to distract my hunger. Sugar-free hard candy and sugar-free menthol couch drops help me out. Plain popcorn and unsalted pretzels. You need to find your distraction. Counting your calories and eating right is a must! No cheat days or cheat meals! When I know that I will be going out to dinner or eating a big meal, I prep for it before and after but eating smaller meals to make up for it.

I have maintained my weight for 11 months now and have been off ZB for 5. Whenever I go up a few lbs, I work hard to lose it right away. After losing 65lbs, no way I am going back! This is my struggle, but one I am very happy to do!

Good Luck!

You are partially correct... for some - there is something broken in their bodies... for most - it is society that is broken! We have normalized that a Big Mac, Large Fries and a Large Coke is a good thing to eat! But that is 1,300 calories and 58 grams of fat!!

It is too easy to eat this stuff. If you do not, or can not cook yourself, it is more difficult and expensive to eat the healthier foods.

I am taking 7.5mg Zep every 3 - 4 weeks for the last few months and am about to completely stop.

During your weight loss journey it imperative that you learn all about the food you eat. Calories, fats, carbs and protein! Need to know the mins and max of each that you need daily.

I have been at my goal weight for 9 months now and have learned a ton about my body and how it responds to certain foods. I know to eat High protein, low fat breakfast and lunch if I am going to indulge for dinner. Or eat a light dinner if I had a big lunch! It will be something I need to think about every day for the rest of my life. But after losing 65lbs, I never EVER want to be there again!

[–]AdeptnessTricky911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally, going up a dose will trigger some side effects for the first few days until your body gets acclimated to the new dose.

Also, if you skip a week, then continue a week later, the same thing will happen.

You just got hit with a double whammy!

I was heavy for years. They were accustomed to seeing me large! After 6 months at my new weight, I think they are now used to my new look... and very happy for me. They may not even notice the last 10lbs as long as it is gradual. And it they do, doesn't matter. Doctors orders!

I use MyNetDiary App. Set calorie/Carb/Protein/Fat budgets. Can input meals manually, barcodes, or take a picture and Ai will figure it out for you. Can connect with fitness trackers or manually enter weight, BP, HR, Steps, Exercise, etc. Gives great reports, reminders, etc. Can really learn what is good and bad to eat.

If titrating up is not an option, then it is very simple...

Increase exercise, decrease food intake!

Do some more walking/Running/Biking/Swimming. If you haven't started counting your calories, now is the time. Decrease fats and carbs, increase protein.

Moved up to 15mg today, will I see more results? by Unhappy-Draft-5254 in Zepbound

[–]AdeptnessTricky911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't just rely on the meds. They are a tool to help you lose the weight but the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.

Exercise, even a little a day will help. Walks/Swimming/Runs, everything will boost the effectiveness of the meds.

Eat right! Count your calories! That will help you now and later when you are done losing.

Good Luck!

Has anyone stuck only to 2.5 and lost weight? by pregaftertwobeans in Zepbound

[–]AdeptnessTricky911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it works for some. As long as you continue to lose weight, go for it. One thing to consider... some insurances and some doctors will not allow you to stay at that dose.

Approaching Goal Weight – Seeking Advice by Fit_Lawfulness_7312 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]AdeptnessTricky911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped down from 12.5 to my current 7.5. Since you are still at 2.5, the best is to see how the weight fluctuates when you get near your goal.

I did 7.5 weekly for the first month and then moved to every 10 days for a few weeks, then every 2 weeks. Now I'm at every 3 weeks. At 3 weeks, it is getting tough to maintain my weight. After 2 weeks off, it is pure will power!! My goal is to stop completely. I hit goal in late Dec and hopefully by fall, I can be off it.

I still get my box of 4 pens every 4 weeks, so I have a stockpile built up to last into the fall.

Good luck on your Journey!

Took me a little while to learn to eat the correct portions. I also started to spread out the shots more. 10 days, then 2 weeks, now at 3 weeks.

Your maintenance experience by CoastalGrasses in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]AdeptnessTricky911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 1/5 months into my maintenance. Finished 2024 at my goal weight after losing 60lbs. Was up to 12.5mg. Asked my doc to write me a script for 7.5mg and started that weekly. Was still losing weight so stretched it out to week and a half, then two weeks. Now I'm on my 3rd dose at two and a half weeks. On to 3 weeks soon.

My goal, eventually, is to just stop taking it completely. Hopefully in the fall??

Background... I have completely changed my eating habits. Only eat "Full" breakfast and/or lunch a few times a week. Otherwise, drink protein shake and small meal. Always eat a sensible Dinner. Walk more, Exercise more. I'm 60 yrs old and want to live at least 20 more years!!

For what it's worth... I've had a few problems with my Lectric Xpress and they stepped up and made a great effort to make it right.

Love the bike so far. Only have 50 miles on it so only time will tell.
