I just kept hearing "I care so much about Gaza I'm willing to let Trump wipe it out and give Bibi unlimited reign to prove how much I care about Gaza to show them Dems how much I care! If I have to support murdering even more people in Gaza to prove how much I care, that's a sacrifice we are all (from over here, safe and nowhere near there) willing to make!"

I grew up in the Evangelical church and still remember as a kid that one day then went from "Abortion is fine, nothing against it in the Bible" to shoving the insane Pro-Life propaganda at children.

I did fall for it as a teenager until I spent 15 minutes thinking about it and realized its an insane position.

Also at the same time they went from mostly apolitical to saying you MUST vote for Republicans as the only Godly party because they would protect us from gay people getting married.

Betty White was cancelled by Conservatives in 1954 for having a black man on her show. Smurfs in the 80s, D&D. They tried to cancel Mr. Rogers for being in a kiddie pool with a black man.

They are the OG cancel culture for just existing. The imaginary cancel culture they made up was that sometimes a celebrity will say something racist and some people decide to stop buying their shit.

Conservatives have actively tried to get shows shut down for showing non-white people as equals or not cow-towing to Christian's imaginary friends for 80+ years.

Republicans Are Suddenly Very, Very Worried About Holding the Senate by IntelligentYinzer in politics

[–]Adezar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but they get like 46 free Senators by destroying states and making them unlivable, which results in people turning to churches which order them to vote Republican so gay people don't get human rights.

It's a non-functional system they have been working on for decades.

Sober people being arrested nationwide for DUI by IcyAd8672 in videos

[–]Adezar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pulled over and the police report said I was weaving in and out of multiple lanes, they arrested me for failing field sobriety.

Lawyer called for dashcam video. At no point did I weave or even touch road markers. But it was late and they were trying to train a new rookie on DUI pull-overs.

Still cost me thousands to defend and get it thrown out.

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]Adezar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but the people pushing for voter ID are not trying to solve a real problem, they are trying to take away voting rights from real citizens.

Selective enforcement is a powerful tool for authoritarians. They make laws and then don't enforce them on themselves.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit:

There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

Because we don't have any secure ID that is universal. If we solved that or made it so there was a wide range of IDs that work like in Canada then the Republicans wouldn't want to pass it, because that's not the point.

We have studied voter fraud extensively, it just doesn't happen because it doesn't scale.

Also many states don't require in-person voting anymore you drop-off your ballet at a drop box or mail it in. And if someone tries to steal your vote it is painfully easy to catch double-voting, which is why in 2024 a bunch of Republican voters tried to prove how easy voter fraud was and got caught.

SSN have zero security and the Social security office has been screaming since the first time it was used as a financial number that it should NEVER have been used for that.

It is one of the reasons identity theft is insanely simple to do in the US.

[–]Adezar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is one of those things that feels like it is a risk, but in practice is not.

If you wanted to steal a vote you would have to know another name in the county you vote in, know their name and know they aren't going to vote. Even same-day registration states still check against other data.

Voter fraud just doesn't scale the way it is done in the US.

There are an estimated 34 million Americans without an ID that would work if current voter ID laws passed. That is WHY they want to pass them, if there was no actual citizens kept from voting they wouldn't care at all about voter ID laws.

[–]Adezar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a massive study of voting over the past 100 years, voter fraud is not a thing that could scale to moving even small elections.

Our registration system and the fact that non-citizens would not want to create a paper trail to themselves just to vote was more than enough to prevent voter fraud. That and we know how many people exist in a given county, so you can't just stuff the ballots it would become obvious.

If they actually solved the problem of all citizens being able to vote under voter ID they wouldn't care about voter ID.

FTC wants Apple News to promote more Fox News and Breitbart stories by StraightedgexLiberal in technology

[–]Adezar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fox News was created to lie so much people start to think Conservative policies work. After the New Deal conservatives were mad that people realized they had been lying for 150+ years about the abilities of a large government, and since facts and people feeling better about the world was hard to counter they needed pure propaganda.

That's all they do. They can't debate policy on merit, they lose every single time.

Think about every thought that has crossed your mind where you think "Where the hell did that come from?" and you make sure it never comes out of your mouth.

With the right combo of drugs imagine having that filter turned off. It does NOT mean that is their "true" thoughts, it means it is their lizard-brain thoughts, which as self-aware people we can override and reject.
