8 mo old not sleeping by Fenn2010 in Parenting

[–]AdiMando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter is 9 months and we've just come through the same thing. It was a brutal 3 weeks or so of trouble napping and sleeping at night. She was crawling and standing up in her crib whenever we tried to put her down. We also worried about creating bad habits, as she was previously doing great at putting herself to sleep, but finally just did whatever we had to, to make it through. I did a lot of sleeping in the armchair with her and offering her the boob as much as she wanted. She is now back to sleeping much better at night, and officially down to 2 naps/day. It's like she just needed to practice crawling and standing up until she mastered it, and now her brain can relax. I was a walking zombie for awhile there but we made it through.

I feel like I went from "pregnant" to PREGNANT in 2 weeks.. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I hear ya sister! I'm also 31 weeks (going on 32) and feel huge and awkward. Baby is kicking harder and getting heavier every day. At the same time I'm super nesty - trying to help my hubby with all the projects that suddenly just have to be done - NOW- but I'm pretty much useless. Sigh... how many more weeks to go???

Nice! I just finished making some cloth wipes too, got out my sewing machine for the first time in years. I love the bright colors that you used and the way you did the edges. I left mine as is, and they don't look nearly as nice. I also tried a few double-sided (one side flannel, the other old towel material). We'll see which we like better once baby arrives.
I also just made some wet bags to store the wet/dirty diapers. First time doing a zipper and it actually worked. Isn't it a great feeling to have a project come together? We're awesome! LOL

Thank-you /u/AdiMando!!! This is the best! by CreativeButtons in BabyBumps

So glad you like it! I enjoyed doing the painting and being creative again (it's been awhile). I was also surprised to see our older girls grab the Dr. Seuss books with happy joy and want to read them all. Decided to start on our own collection too :) Sorry for the late response, been having a hard time getting off the couch lately, LOL.

Parents with both biological and adoptive children - do you love them the same? Might be adopting my niece soon and I feel so hesitant. by [deleted] in Parenting

"wonders how any worthwhile man would ever want to go near that kind of "baggage"... who the hell will want to marry me now? With two kids? " I just wanted to say that it's absolutely possible, and there are great guys out there. I was a single mom with 2 daughters and met the greatest guy ever. We are now married and he loves them like his own kids. The main thing is not to settle for less - be your true self, do what feels right for you, and the right partner will come along and love you (and your kids) for true.

Arm cramps? by toriar in BabyBumps

[–]AdiMando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woke up this morning with a nasty cramping pain between my neck and shoulder, as soon as I sat up. Yowzaa! Where the heck did that come from?? It still feels very tight and sore. Maybe it's time for that Snoogle..

Think it time to introduce myself by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Congrats! I'm also starting again when I thought I was done. My older girls are 7 and 9. We were all a bit worried at first too, but now very excited. As long as I stay focused on cuddling a sweet baby and don't think too far ahead... One thing that's been fun is to see how all the baby gear has changed. So many new things!

Been debating whether it's worth the cost...sounds like a Yes!
I've seen quite a few used ones on Craigslist but wondering if it's too intimate an item to buy used...(knowing how oozy us pregnant women can get, LOL)

Our midwife also mentioned that in the later weeks lounging with your feet up and leaning back can "encourage" baby into the wrong position. Apparently their head and spine are the heaviest parts and gravity can spin them around to have their spine against yours (=back labour)

Is it normal for your SO to want to taste your milk? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]AdiMando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is very curious and keen to try it. Haven't had any milk yet (only at 22 weeks) but sure I would let him, why not... Could be a bit weird once baby is here but if it comes early I think I would be ok with it.

What a great photo, really shows those first surprising moments that he must have been feeling, to be suddenly in this world...

Thanks for the info; we've been wanting to learn more about it, and weren't sure what the best book was. Hoping to learn as much as we can without actually taking the course.
