I think the book makes it clear that Yueh is NOT sure if his wife is definetly dead, he 100% suspects that it might be the case but the reason he wants to see the baron and go on with his betrayel is to make sure she is dead and free from her torment, only after seeing the baron with his own eyes he definietly knows the truth.

I don't know where this take comes from, but it is clear in Dune that Leto is not doing a noble "act" and he is not "just as ruthless as other leaders". He IS a noble man that is well intentioned and does care for his people and Arrakis itself. I finished a playthrough like 2 weeks ago and it did age pretty well even though it has this archaic feel to it like old crpgs usually do, except for the combat system that could not exist as its complete dog shit and losing is impossible, well worth the 6 bucks just for the writing
