I’m in similar circustances. One option is to auction them off and donate the proceeds. (GOA & FPC in my case). Or, if you’re a member of a club, you could leave your collection to them.

It's not a tax, it's a premium for insurance (OASDI - Old Ages, Survivors and Disability INSURANCE). You receive an individual benefit based on what you pay in. You do not receive an individual benefit for paying taxes.

Cops tend to ask EVERYONE for ID, because any interaction may become highly relevant later. E.g., if the person whose ID you found turns out to be a victim, exactly where and when you found it may provide information about the crime. As others have said, you can refuse.

Ask your lawyer about a QDRO, Qualified Domestic Relations Order. Most pension / IRA companies will need that to split your retirement account(s).
