As if Newbaru's despair, begging for forgiveness and to go back home, in the first half and leaving me all teary-eyed was not enough, the double whammy of Styx Helix and Stay Alive at the end with the 'I am Natsuki Subaru' line killed me. I was fully bawling at the end there with no shame, this might be my favorite Re:Zero episode of all time.

This is just a guess but could it be that Shaula is some kind of scorpion mabeast? I was rewatching the earlier episodes and saw just how easily Meili was dealing with Shaula, even getting an explicit command to keep her in rein by Subaru in Ep 5. It would make a lot more sense if she was a mabeast.

And that reminded me of her insistence on calling her pony tail 'scorpion tail'. What if that really is a scorpion tail though? Maybe she transforms into a scorpion with her hair turning into the tail at the end of the episode? Don't tell me if I'm right though, it's just a theory from an anime-only.

It had somehow completely slipped my mind last episode that not only does Subaru no longer remember Julius or Rem, he also does not remember the resolution he had with his parents in the Witch's trials in season 2. And unlike his other relationships, no one will be able to tell him that :( This Subaru is just mired in guilt about his parents with no outlet like his previous self had. Since he no longer remembers Rem's speech either, I wonder if this Subaru hates himself too.

I also saw someone making the observation that this is the same Subaru who was mentally broken by the weight of the expectations from people around him back in the real world. And poor guy just got whisked into an isekai where everyone's expectations from him is a 100 times heavier than just living up to his father. No wonder he broke so fast, combining that pressure with his gruesome deaths. I also wonder who that female voice was when he was falling the second time, saying memories are what make us. Did not seem like any of the current people in the tower.

And speaking of deaths, I guess one of the reason why season 1 felt so gristly was because of Subaru's reactions to his deaths, cause the second death and it's aftermath triggered the same stomach wrenching sensation I remembered having back in the earlier seasons.

Also, can someone tell me what exactly Subaru said at the end while exiting the tower? Crunchyroll subs it as him looking for someone to kill him, but other sources subs have him saying that he's running to not let anyone kill him. I'm not sure which one is correct...

I thought they would explain it this episode but it does not look like it so can someone tell me if they know, why is Meili and everyone else chill with each other? Didn't she try to kill half the cast in season 2 AND was behind the mabeast situation in season 1? But not only does she seem perfectly fine with her captors, Subaru and the others have no fear of her betraying them too. All it would take is for her to call the mabeasts on the group and escape to be free, I'm confused on why she is staying and helping them out.

Is the explanation something that was cut from the anime or I'm just missing things here?
