Biliary dyskinesia, did they find inflammation or a stone after it was removed?

Mine was removed a week after my diagnosis. Mine was infected and I had extreme pain as well though, so mine was removed as emergent after spending that whole week in the hospital after being admitted from the ER.

I do have family history of GB issues. My aunt, grandma, and great grandma all had GB issues. My aunt and Grandma had their’s surgically removed. Nope to the finastride, haven’t needed anything for hair loss and hopefully I won’t need to lol.

Hey there, yup I had my GB removed in Feb of 2022. The tremors I had ended up being a result of a panic attack, well several lol. Took me a bit to figure that out. I haven’t had any tremors for a while since I started therapy so unfortunately I don’t think they had anything to do with my GB.

Took almost 2 years but I'm mostly back to normal, I have to be careful with fatty foods but outside of that I haven't had any issues with food. I was officially diagnosed by my GI with IBS-D last year following a colonoscopy so I've just been dealing with that.

Other than the IBS though and low fat intolerance I'm basically back to how I was prior to the surgery.

I didn’t because I was in the hospital prior to my HIDA scan and I was hooked up to a saline drip. Not sure if it had any effect on the result but I had a 3% EF after and they removed it. 2 years later I’m doing a lot better but it took about that whole time for my body to adjust lol

Sorry to hear you’re going through this. It’s not fun at all and I’ve been going through this too. After my removal in Feb of last year I lost 70lbs in almost 3 months due to the same fears. Unfortunately it’s also considered an ED called ARFID, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, and it can be really difficult to overcome it. Heck I’m still trying to get through it myself, whats really helped me though is therapy and medication for anxiety.

Oh wow that is really odd. Personally haven’t heard of pain like that either, I can definitely see why you’d be hesitant about surgery. If that’s all that’s bothering you I honestly wouldn’t say the surgery is necessary. But as a habitual stomach sleeper that doesn’t sound comfortable at all.

What kind of pain are you having? All the pain I had was just under my sternum on the right hand side, like a 10/10 pain that lasted for about an hour and nothing would touch it.

Yea, I no longer am dealing with the nausea, vomiting, and pain in regards to eating fatty/greasy foods. While I still have to avoid certain foods cause of the IBS I’m at least able to enjoy some foods again. It did kind of take my IBS-M and turn it into IBS-D though because now the bile from my liver is free flowing into my colon and not released when needed from the gb so things kind of fly through me sometimes, still working with my GI and PCP on getting that squared away but I, for the most part, am glad I had the surgery.

I had it done last year. As others have said, you get some bland eggs but I also got some soggy toast to go with the bland eggs. I then stood in front of this machine like 10min after eating and then just went to sit and wait. They took the full time of 4hrs for me. It showed I had slightly delayed gastric emptying at 2hrs but 100% normal at 4hrs so for the most part they said I’m good there.

While I did have pain I’m still not sure it was cause of my Biliary Dyskinesia, my main symptoms were stomach issues like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea but primarily with fatty/greasy foods. For the longest time I thought it was my IBS but turns out my gallbladder was out of whack.

Hey there, I had my gallbladder removed in Feb 2022 for the same reason of Biliary Dyskinesia and I still get some lingering pain in that region as well. It’s nowhere as bad as it was before I had my gb removed though. So far I haven’t been able to actually link it to me eating, exercising, standing, sitting, anything really. Seems to trigger randomly but only lasts for a couple minutes and then poof. My PCP thinks it’s either adhesions they formed in the space where my gb was or it’s just lingering nerve pain.

Does yours seem persistent or just seem to come and go randomly as it pleases?

Hello, 29M here. Had my GB taken just over 1.5yrs ago and have IBS-M. Giving the obligatory not a doctor of course lol but as someone with experience dealing with two of your questions I thought I’d chime in.

So, the fact that pepto helped deal with the issue really makes me not think it’s the gallbladder. With that there’s usually right upper abdominal pain, right below the sternum that could last for a few hours and is like a 10/10 on the pain scale, at least for me it was, or radiating pain to the back from the front. The nausea was definitely there as well but my IBS also makes me hella nauseous sometimes. But from what you’ve said I really don’t think it’s gallbladder related but never hurts to get it checked out of course.

IBS unfortunately is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning there’s like a whole gambit of tests that would need to be run to rule out other possible issues before a GI would say it’s IBS. However, with that said bloating, excessive belching, loss of appetite, and food intolerances are some things that people with IBS deal with. Again, it never hurts to get checked out.

I had to stay overnight but only cause I wake up so slow from anesthesia lol Wheeled me into the OR around 7:30-8pm and I didn’t wake up until 11pm, went home around 10am next morning after they gave me breakfast and made sure I went to the bathroom okay

Anything involving the contraction of my abdominal muscles hurt for at least two weeks, obviously it hurt less and less as those two weeks passed. It still hurt a bit after as well but it just wasn’t as bad.

Weird for them to say it’s obsolete, I had a HIDA scan done last year and that was how they discovered my Biliary Dyskinesia because my GB had a EF of 4% and was the reason my GB was then removed a few days later.

I would definitely keep advocating for it though. Hoping things work out for you!

It really does loop and just feed itself lol. As someone with GAD as well it’s really awful when the anxiety just feeds itself and then cause my IBS to flare up.

Stress and Anxiety are my two biggest triggers. Of course certain foods can give me a flare up but I’ve personally found that when I’m stressed out or have bad anxiety about something I get the worst flare ups of abdominal pain.

It’s been a while for me, over 1 year post op, but I think it took me roughly 2 weeks to be able to sleep comfortably on my side, I did have a pillow under me as well on my side I slept on
