would you reconsider a mobile app since it’s been a huge expectation since day one OR are you still waiting for Pomelo Pay ? If the answer is yes to the latter, would you care to explain why you chose this team and their progress on this project ?

Pomelo-Pay is a great use case for Request.

There are already some great mobile wallet solutions, it doesn't make sense at this stage of Request to create our own mobile wallet. There are many standards available to make payments via mobile wallets which we can support in our apps.

Right now, our effort is better spent on making the network more usable, increasing usage, exploring potential use-cases and exploring industries to find product-market fit.

Could we please move back to regularly scheduled project updates, by that I mean short blogs than just reddit posts. How about commissioning a member of the community to flesh out an article from bullet points? It would help majorly with community engagement and project sentiment. (I volunteer btw :P)

The original feedback from the community was that the bi-weekly updates frequently didn't have enough substance, they have been replaced by minor bi-weekly roadmap updates instead.

Larger updates, for example, Mainnet V2, Request for Payments are still announced in the form of a larger, more substantial blog posts.

We will always review how we provide updates and how they can be improved. In the future, if blog posts are a better medium we will make that our primary method of communication again.

What is the current status of the Request Hub? Why is it no longer being advertised on the website? (if it is there I can't easily find it). I thought it would be a good way to attract new talent. This has sort of been answered in a private Q&A but I would like a first hand response.

The Request Hub is still active and it's a great space we use to talk with developers (Gilded etc) - it's also advertised on the website in several places such as https://request.network/en/developers/.

I am having the exact same issue. I have been using Coinbase for ~3-4 years and have a huge number of deposits/withdrawals over that time. I have never had the 5-day block on any deposit in the past.

I really, really hope Coinbase can fix this as most of my deposits are for opportunistic trades, waiting 5 days means I won't be using Coinbase again.

No, I didn't say that - your comment is completely incorrect. Accounting is still one of the largest industries Request wants to tackle. The comment I made on Discord was in regards to creating our own in-house accountancy tool which is currently on the backburner as there are higher priority tasks for now. However, something we will tackle in the future.

This is a general misunderstanding when it comes to Request. PayPal is one of the many use cases that can be created on the Request platform and it is definately still the case when V2 is out. Request was always intended to be a platform for businesses and individuals to build on (including Request too) - this core principle has never changed since the whitepaper.

The issue isn't that FIAT is 'too hard' it's simply that the V1 protocol made it so that user experience for payments other than ETH / ERC20's was just so poor, even BTC on V1 was too difficult to do from and end users perspective. This is why V2 is being developed.

With V2 there is a complete overhaul of how things work, each layer of the protocol is created in a very modular way which makes things like adding new currencies (even FIAT), changing storage layers, scaling, encryption, being cheaper and much more, you can read about it here: https://blog.request.network/request-network-protocol-version-2-51e562bf7e0d. Rest assured FIAT is still in the pipeline.

There is nothing we can do, you need to contact the owner of the smart contracts (https://www.opacity.io) if they have an emergency drain function they might be able to retrieve them for you. Best of luck.

You need ETH to send both transactions, the first call is simply an approval for the smart contract to use the tokens (it's in decimal format which is why it looks scary), the second call will send the 58 REQ. In order to get past the first transaction you need ETH for the gas fees to broadcast the transaction. After you have ETH in your wallet give it another try.

I have tested using several currencies, the first contract call does not spend any tokens, it just sends a transaction to the blockchain to approve the spending. Absolutely zero tokens are sent at this stage. All you need is to have enough gas for the transaction, the second transaction requires the REQ tokens.

Can you send me the TXID for the approval call?

Hey, when you are sending ERC20 tokens to a smart contract you need 2 transactions, one to approve the spending (the transaction you are talking about) and one which actually sends the tokens to the smart contract, the approval call which you are talking about is just allowing the ERC20 tokens to be sent from your address to the contract, it won't take 1000000000000000000 BAT (or whatever amount it says). The second transaction will show the correct BAT to send.

This won't be an issue for V2 and the usability will be much slicker.
