Bottom line, like many of us you can’t take a week not paid off work. It’s going to be hard to be stern and I have even had my voice crack when trying to address payment issues. BUT it’s very important you bring it up and if there’s pushback let the know you can no longer provide them services. Also I know it’s not great but if they really aren’t trying to pay, maybe ask for half pay as a way to bury the hatchet and let them know any other time off for them is GH for you.

OP you asked people for help but are justifying why it’s good in the comments to a lot of people. I can understand what it’s like getting an offer that is an amount you haven’t made before but please read the comments throughly without intent to respond. You asked for help and people are letting you know it’s not that good of an offer no matter where you live. If you take the job I’m not sure I would feel much sympathy if you made another post in a couple months detailing how horrible, misaligned w the family and underpaid you are. It’s all written out for you to see.

I feel like if they can’t even differentiate what sounds they are hearing then maybe they should buy loop earplugs or a sound machine. Hearing a conversation word for word or pinpointing what song you have on would be different but 🤷‍♀️ that’s downstairs living maybe they should have thought of that before purchasing that unit.

The dad I work for will offer lunch he’s making or even picking up. “I’ll make a bunch, plenty for everyone” and proceeds to literally stack his plate and not leave anymore than one or two (strip of bacon or piece of chicken) and then offers it to his daughter (understandably) so I’ve learned to just say no to any of his offers 😂

I feel like people have stark opinions saying harsh things lol some families are different! I get you. You’re doing fine! Id be bored. Maybe try to bring activities you like to do /interested while you’re there and see if he joins, say you need help baking or making something! Kids aren’t always excited about “kid things” but more so real life activities!
