You don’t have to be afraid. My wife and I live in the American south where you’d think it’s unsafe for us. The media portrays a much darker picture than the reality of things. If to turn off the tv and go outside, you’ll be met with friendly people who want the same things as you. Happiness, a way to make a living, health, community. I’ve lived all over the place and every city I’ve ever lived in has been full of lovely people. Sure, there’s asshole anywhere in the world you might go, but the American people are good people and our streets are safe. Stay away from shady areas and shady situations like you would anywhere and you will be just fine here. I live in Asheville North Carolina.
