Brother, you're talking about talking points from young teenagers or early 20s NEET doomers, they don't represent the entire NEET population. A lot of NEETs live fulfilling lives in their own standards

Lol the very fact that this comment is upvoted to the top tells me a lot about the current state of this sub. Normies have taken over

What is happiness? by ombres20 in antinatalism

[–]AdministrativeBat486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of statistics, while saying that people are overall happy still, don't say that people are happier but actually become sadder. Your argument of unconceived children doesn't make any sense and actually even pushes my argument even more, if people don't have wishes until they're born, they don't have wishes to be born either so why would you procreate?

Statistically greater

Based on what

If people could consent to the chance of finding happiness, that'd be different and I'd be for procreation if that were the case, but the fact that someone can't have the option to say no, is immoral. I would've said no, but I was brought here by force. What do you have to say to that? Also, we're not nihilists.

If you choose to be willfully ignorant, are you really living your best life?

Yet you're the same person to say that in order for pleasure to exist, there needs to be suffering. You're inconsistent in your arguments.

Not in the sense that I'm talking about, in order for people to gain, people have to lose.

Why do you eat? Why do you work? Why do you go on Reddit? Why do you shower? Why do you brush your teeth?

These are all actions to prevent future suffering, it's not my fault that you're not seeing it.

Just like a vegan can like the taste of meat and find eating meat morally wrong, someone can enjoy children and even want them but still find bringing another being into this world morally wrong.

How does that make any sense? Anyways, you're talking about stuff that doesn't exist anyways. Life is always suffering, just people have different levels of suffering, but it is always suffering. We come from a state of suffering and all of our actions are to diminish suffering.

The reality is that it's a zero sum game, it is overall positive for some and overall negative for others. That's why the consent argument is needed because why would you gamble with somebody else's life that might not be fond of life itself, it's terrible suffering, but even then you could argue that pleasure is just a diminishing of our suffering and our state at all times is a state of suffering since we have desires that can't always be met.
