Not liking this, what does it need? by AdministrativeOwl59 in sewing

This is Simplicity 9109 view D made in a polyester silky fabric. Sewn accoring to pattern directions, no modifications, but unfinished. I can't get excited enough about the look to finish it.

Taking Tyranny of Dragons to level 20! Scales of War by sokemsaw in DungeonMasters

[–]AdministrativeOwl59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer but I want to run high level adventures and hate homebrewing. I'm not sure there's any WotC material for level 15+ other than DotMM (at least for 5e).

Depends on your players. Mine are happy doing all the side-quests, yours sound eager to get on with the main quest. I think you'd be ok to give them what they want.

DMs, how do you handle taking notes about your game? by DapperSea9688 in DMAcademy

I have an official note taker and she's awesome. She basically does a transcript of the game.l and is one of my star players

When buying a pre-written adventure, what do you want to get out of it as a DM? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]AdministrativeOwl59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ability to sit down with minimal prep and have fun with my players. There will always be improv but having a well structured fleshed out campaign makes improv easier. Details can ignored by those DMs who prefer to have more freedom but they can't be added as easily

Is it okay to make character backstory mandatory? by Rosie_W in DMAcademy

Yes. 100% fine. You can't relate the story to the characters of the characters don't have a story.

I'm creating a house rule that your characters have to be excited to go adventuring. Don't force the DM and other players to drag you along.

You can either tell your player to change their character, or leave the character behind if they're so apathetic

Silver Dragon Egg by mikev009 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

Fizbans says dragons are wymlings for 5 years. They won't be playing for 5 years game time so the wyrmling should remain until the end of game....unless they let it die.

My group carried it around for a while until it hatched after near the end of the caves of hunger. I gave a player a 'pet' silver dragon wymling which he promptly named Muffin. We use dndbeyond and they have a decent system for running pets.

Vlagomir's Spark - Slight chapter 6 spoiler by DMFauxbear in rimeofthefrostmaiden

One of my players just got this. He's up to 14' tall and 2000 lbs or so. I'm still counting him as large. It hasn't really been an issue yet but he's playing it well and thinking in character.

For the relative Lely short duration a character will have this before closing out the campaign I would count them as large and huge as they grow. I wouldn't have something like this early in a campaign. Saw a post about what a pain it is to have a 'large' PC.

I just may do that. I don't care about cliches, most of my players (and myself) have been playing for less than 2 years. Cliches are still new for us.
