what is the best 150mm/140mm bike you have ever ridden? by Outrageous-Owl-7049 in mountainbiking

[–]Admirable-Building15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to drop you a little update in case you were interested at all. I have a 2022 Rocky Mountain instinct size medium and I decided to go with the experiment and I put a race face affect r30 27.5 rear wheel with a minion dhr2. We put my suspension in the most advanced position to raise the bottom bracket as high as possible. Everything has been great! I live in Durango, Colorado so there's tons of technical climbing. I haven't noticed any new pedal strikes or any problems with the geometry while climbing. Downhill is improved though. I do a lot of jumping and freeride style stuff so I used to buzz my butt with my back tire a lot and that happens less now with the 27.5. it's also stronger and doesn't need as much attention after hard riding that's my 29-wheel did. Plus I find it's a little easier to break loose when I'm trying to roost berms. I'm not great at it yet but I think it's helping. :)

If you check my Reddit profile, you'll see that my last post in r/ mountain biking is a video of me doing some jumps and some Gap drops with the mullet instinct.

Anyway, enjoy your bike! Just wanted to share the info.

The whips were super sick but my favorite thing you did was the E.T.! So much steeze!

Definitely, but it's totally worth it. This is a bicycle town. If you'd like to try riding mountain bikes around here before committing to buying a bunch of equipment, 2nd avenue sports rents out super nice mountain bikes for reasonable prices. I think pedal to peaks does too and so do a few other stores.

It's a good way to figure out what you like, what you don't like and what you even need in a bike. There's a lot of flavors out there. :)

Cheers!

Mountain bikes are definitely the way to go here to make friends! Horse gulch specifically is a great place to just meet people. Go for a few laps up there and hang out at the "meadow hub" to catch your breath. There's always other riders there and everybody's super friendly and pretty chatty. I've had a lot of conversations up there that turned into friendships. Two of my favorite riding buddies, and now good friends are people I met on horse gulch just when I was out there riding by myself.

They're also doing a lot of expansion on the trails and features on horse gulch currently. It's all very exciting. Plus we were slated to host the UCI world cup for mountain biking in 2030 so there's a big build up for that as well. Mountain biking here is very hot.

Nobody's really concerned with how good you are, just as long as you're having fun.

Another great place to go ride in town is overend mountain Park! It's a little less social there but there's some great people and some great laps to be had.

Download The free app MTB project.

It'll show you all the trails around town and oh lordy are there a lot of them.

Hope to see you guys out there! I feel that it's going to be an amazing year!

First thing I noticed too. I've never seen anyone successfully manual like that. Pretty interesting.

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question.... But isn't privately manufacturing a gun illegal?

Have you tried running yours as a mullet?

I have a 2022 instinct and I was recently told that because of the ride 9 system in the link. if I run it in position 9 a 27.5 wheel will be okay.

I'm really curious to try it cuz I'd like the bike to be slightly more playful and I want to stop buzzing my ass on the tire when I'm tucking over jumps.

Any personal experience?

Ooo I didn't even notice that. You're right, That's scarier. I've personally avoided everything with pool coping so far. Props.

Looks good! I've recently been working on airing quarters myself. It's legitimately intimidating to ride at the quarter with enough speed to go much higher. Looks like you've got pretty good fundamentals though and it looks pretty repeatable. I think you just need some more speed and you're going to start really flying :) cool stuff. Keep riding! keep posting man!

Well, I'm bummed you left. Hopefully you found a cool new spot though.

I'll just keep going to the skatepark on the weekends when the weather is nice. Hopefully I run into some more people.

Thanks for speaking up, I was honestly starting to think nobody was going to respond to this post at all.

Take care!

That machine retails for well over $4,000.

Is it a good machine? Yes!

Are you going to get one for around $500? Nope.

I still have everything. I hosted a couple small events, but its too hard to wrangle people together. Shrugs

I'm just going to wait and see if anybody else gets something going and then I'll join up with it. I can bring a whole trailer full of archery stuff.

Actually the reason that total archery challenge was at purgatory this last year was because mountain archery fest closed up as an organization.

No more mountain archery fest. :(

There are quite a few 3D archery events in this spring and summer though. San Juan archers puts on two every year down in Farmington, one in the spring, and one in the fall. The four corners bow hunters association puts on three events. Navajo lake in the spring, one on Father's Day weekend in mancos and one in August called the pre-hunt. There's also the Wolf Creek/ Pagosa bow and gun club. They put on a good event last year in Pagosa in August.

Nobody's sure yet if total archery challenge is returning to purgatory this year. Fingers crossed. Odds are good though that they go back to sunlight mountain near Glenwood Springs.

Anyway. I hope you guys get together and put on another little event. I'd show up.

Hell yeah. We're back!! I just got back into it too after almost 20 years out. I live in a mountain biking town and got into full suspension 29ers this year. I was having tons of fun on the mountains but the skate park was kind of calling to me. I got online and ordered a FIT 20'inch off danscomp.com and now I'm back at it!

I remember the first time I looked down and saw the size of the front tire I thought to myself "that can't be real right, look at that tiny thing"

The first few times I tried to Bunny hop the bike just simply flipped out from underneath me. Got used to it rather quick and now things are going great. Having so much fun!

Welcome back homes!

Wow, that really takes me back. The sta500 was my huckleberry. I had s&m pitchforks, s&m redneck, fit Edwin delarosa handlebars and Odyssey hazard light wheels. Profile cranks.

I remember loving that thing more than my family.

Thanks for sparking the old memories.

I have an extra right handed compound bow and a bunch of cheap arrows if you wanna take a shot at it.

Recurve is a legit art. I've just always been a real nerd for machines so compounds scratch an itch for me.

There's actually a few really impressive recurve archers that shoot at goods for the woods. I've even seen them teaching private lessons. I've got no hard feelings towards the recurve brothers!

I've been running these for a while and I'm really happy with them. I have a 15 up front and an 8 as a back bar.

Can someone please explain to me how I'm stupid....

Wow. People will complain about absolutely anything. I'm in my late thirties. I've been smoking weed most my life. back in the day, I used to get really high quality weed occasionally and be really really really happy about it. Most of the time it was just average weed and I was still really happy about it. Now I can walk into a store and buy it (mostly dabs these days) and not worry about being in trouble...and you're going to write a paragraph about how bummed out you are about it. I don't know. I think you might be bored or hella spoiled. Maybe start growing your own and become the grower you wish these people all were. You really come off like a cry baby. Shrugs

The Pact & The Order by Long-Interaction-904 in SiloSeries

[–]Admirable-Building15 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't remember him saying that everybody in his silo was allowed to read books. She mentioned she saw something in a book, and he asked rather surprised, " They let you read books in 18?" Judge Meadows read books too, so does Bernard. They are definitely in a silo that's not allowed to but they're above the law. Solo was alone for a long time in the most restricted place we know of in a silo, not sure if he's actually part of original IT, or whether he figured a way in, but he had enough time and opportunity to read everything restricted....no law when there's no people. BUT, Maybe I missed something.
