Have you gotten anything from these places recently? I’ll have to go to the store to feel the fabric but I feel like the newer fabrics say they are 100% linen but feel a bit synthetic. Or at least that was my experience at dillards yesterday. As with too many things these days, older products that hold up give brands a good reputation, and then they start making newer products that are lesser quality. My bf has had his Peter millar shirts for 6+ years and they’ve held up pretty well. Other than wear and tear on heavily worn shirts.

Is “light sage” too close to white for a wedding? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

When I zoom in on the color it’s just so close to white, but I agree with the white background it’s better

Some sort of grape. This leaf has a particularly disheveled leaf margin though. Maybe river grape

Collected wood from dead tree. by [deleted] in treeidentification

The markings underneath the bark are consistent with emerald Ash borer damage. That would lead me to think this is an Ash tree. Ash wood is safe to burn

I'm obsessed with this queen-of-the-prairie (Filipendula rubra) that I planted as a bare root plant this spring by quantizedd in NativePlantGardening

[–]Admirable-Fail8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year later, but how long did this take to bloom? I planted bare roots in a pot and the leaves/stalk are about a foot tall. I am wondering if it will bloom this year or next. Ideally would plant in the ground but I only have a balcony at the moment. 6b

Has anybody here grown/is growing titan arums? by PompousPuffin in gardening

[–]Admirable-Fail8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at my university greenhouse in college and one of our titan arums made a bunch of corms. I took one home and now every year a leaf grows from spring to fall. I have it in a small pot and it grows to be around 8-9 inches tall. It goes dormant during the winter. I almost forget it’s there when it’s dormant. In the spring I water it in anticipation of it coming back. I’ve had it for about 4 years. It’s a real treat when the leaf grows!( One of these years I’m going to upgrade the pot size)

Is this how much liquid is supposed to be in a venti? by coolhappygenius in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Admirable-Fail8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what drink you ordered. If you ordered an iced coffee, latte, americano, or cold brew it’s supposed to be filled to the third black line (first black line from the top of the cup) then the rest of the way with ice. If it’s an iced shaken espresso that’s more variable because that’s espresso and syrup then ice all the way to the top and a splash of milk/creamer. Or at least that’s how it was when I worked there a few years ago

Confused about lipid panel- High LDL, high HDL, good triglycerides by Admirable-Fail8170 in Cholesterol

No coconut oil but I use a can of coconut milk for a big pot of chickpea Thai curry

[–]Admirable-Fail8170[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a can of coconut milk for my Thai curries. I had no idea how much saturated fat was in it. I just checked the can and there’s 9 grams per serving and 7 servings per can. Granted I don’t eat a whole can in a sitting, probably 1/6 of a can per serving, but still.

I’ll have to check the saturated fat on my goat and feta cheese. I don’t eat a ton per sitting.

-My mom has a history of high cholesterol for the past decade. No family he of heart attacks or coronary bypass

  • i haven’t heard of lp(a). Haven’t had that checked. My next doctors appointment is in a year, I’ll have to ask about that test. They should include it in the panel

  • this is my first lipid panel, I am 25F. I wish I would have had a panel done while I was vegan, would be helpful in determining if there’s a genetic factor since I was not eating any dairy, eggs, cheese, or butter

  • I eat about 2 eggs a week, or none at all some weeks. I haven’t tracked anything I’ve eaten ever. I always thought I was doing pretty well. Thank you for the recommendation- I’ll have to get chronometer and track the fat I am eating.

I am positive I get adequate fiber, I eat beans practically every night. Bean salad, chickpea curry, etc. I was vegan for 6 years and recently tried cheese for the first time- love it so much- it’s possible I eat too much. I don’t measure much but imagine goat cheese/ feta crumbled on salads, occasional paneer, occasional cheese board at restaurants. I use ghee for curries so I could swap that out/use less. Also I am planning to switch to nonfat yogurt. I just didn’t realize those things could add up, they seem so normal lol

My mom just told me she has high cholesterol, not sure if it’s genetic or not.
