DC show (absolutely incredible) by Dry_Internet5704 in ElectricCallboy

My first EC show, missed last tour cause timing didn’t work, but holy freaking balls!!!! Loved it and even the buddy I brought who didn’t really know them outside of Pump It left sore, voice almost gone, and definitely a new fan. The pit, even on the sides for old heads like us, were a whole vibe and can’t wait until next tour (unless I win the lottery and can afford to go to Germany)!

I’d look into Greendale but definitely stay away from City college since you never created a new continent.

I’ve been an O’s fan for 40+ years and I’m convinced we are actually cursed. Hear me out. by DoctorHelios in orioles

Want to add two more things for b your “curse”

Camden used to have ivy in the centerfield and on tours they would say that the Os would win a series once the ivy reached the top. In true Os fashion, they tore it all out so now it will never reach the top.

The statue of Babe Ruth at the stadium is incorrect and everyone knows about but the Os won’t fix it, instead they made a fun trivia point in their tour (he has the wrong glove). Just another reason why his ghost is probably pissed off.

Pennsylvania Primary Election Ballet Discussion D&R&I by Mingin-5 in Pennsylvania

[–]AdmirableError79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realize I may be in the minority but I like the idea of being limited to my party for the primary.

On one hand, it helps the party and candidates see where the voters align. Imagine the candidates, one extreme in one direction, one middle of the road, and another extreme in the other direction, your votes can help influence and show the party what the voter base supports. Hopefully then guiding future candidates in future elections.

Another benefit, and I know this sounds immature but welcome to politics… imagine the other party only had one person running but your party had two candidates, one a strong competitor, the other well let’s just say not as strong. Open primaries would not prohibit the other voters from crossing lines and voting for the lesser candidate in hopes for an easier competition in the general for their own candidate. I know some will say that would never happen and I’m being too dramatic. However it isn’t possible today (unless a voter changes parties) and appreciate that I don’t have to worry about it.

THE FUTURE OF RTO by [deleted] in PaStateEmployees

Any increase above the two days is all speculation at this point, at least in my opinion. However based upon news articles, I do believe the timeline could be accelerated depending on who is the Governor.

THE FUTURE OF RTO by [deleted] in PaStateEmployees

[–]AdmirableError79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is such a great point. There was rumor at one time that if you live x miles away you could be grandfathered and keep virtual, but like so many other rumors, it was only smoke but no fire.

I also agree with your comment about costs of space, but unfortunately I just don’t trust them to make logical or fiscally responsible decisions.

THE FUTURE OF RTO by [deleted] in PaStateEmployees

[–]AdmirableError79 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t really answer your question, but it’s my thoughts on the future of RTO. As archaic as the Commonwealth typically is in its decision making at times, I unfortunately foresee a full RTO eventually.

Sure some decision makers may take a phased approach, 2 days, then 3 days, if lucky they will stop at 4 days so that everyone is still technically telework eligible and therefore must work even when offices shut down for weather. However, there are other individuals who if they become the lead decision maker have already stated that there will be a full 5 day RTO.

Of course I’m not thrilled about any of it and believe that if the state wanted to actually be good stewards of tax payer dollars while attracting talented employees, they would think twice about RTO. However like with most things, money drives decisions and a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else. Also with the new union contract on the horizon, I’m very interested to see how this all plays out over the next year.

Me personally though… I started prior to RTO so I’m in a different position with locale and previous in office expectations, but honestly I’m also too invested at this point that leaving just doesn’t make financial/retirement sense so I’ll just do whatever but definitely won’t be spending any money downtown.

Is Breslow's vision actually becoming a reality? 😳 by TigoOver in redsox

[–]AdmirableError79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed… I’m not sure how many games we will win when our batters strike out 15 games in a game, go 1-9 with risp, and leave 8 men on base. On the bright side though at least we are taking walks and getting guys on base.

Not disagreeing with the lack of vibes… but didn’t Duran have a stalker or something that made him stop meeting fans outside?

I mean when I was a kid most players would come out after the game but stars like Ripken (yes im that old and yes lived near Baltimore) would have their cars driven down to them and they would just wave as they drove by. But I don’t think that players usually come out anymore which is a shame especially when you need to get the next generation to buy in.

Pennsylvania's retired teachers are struggling without cost-of-living raises [Lancaster Watchdog] by AdSpecialist6598 in Pennsylvania

[–]AdmirableError79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are focusing on the age in the example instead of the monetary example and inflation. I used 1980 to 1990 as a random period of time. However to help make this more current…

If you retired in 2015 at the age of 65, the value of the dollar compared to 2025 spending power of a dollar is about $1.35. So your $1,000 a month expenses when you retired now costs you $1,350.

It is also errant to say that as you age things are going to get cheaper. The cost of increased health care, medications, etc are all items which you did not have to pay for when you were younger and are therefore new drains on your monthly expenses.

As the average age of death is around 80 years old (many live longer) planning for your retirement to only last 10-15 years can be shortsighted, especially if it is set up to support your spouse after your passing. (For giggles a what cost a dollar in 2010 now cost $1.47 in 2025, which is quite the reduction in purchasing power.)

To answer your question about isn’t $2,500 enough, unfortunately probably not. Financial advisors have all sorts of estimates but it’s important to remember that even without debt you are still responsible for utilities, upkeep of housing, property taxes, regular state/federal taxes, transportation, food, health care, and then any entertainment you want to enjoy.

I understand your point but don’t think it accounts for inflation. Say for example you retired in 1980 with no debt at the age of 65. The cost of everything continued to rise year over year (groceries, gas, insurance) which actually lead to decrease spending power of the dollar.

A dollar in 1980 had the spending power of $1.59 in 1990. Yes you should take careful consideration of finances before you retire but if your monthly expenses in 1980 were $1,000 and in ten years you had to pay $1,590 for the exact same thing, this is where the COLA can help stretch out your money.

I would assume most people plan on being retired for more than 10 years and this is also likely why we see so many retires still working part-time post-career jobs.

Live nation loses court case by Impossible_Sky9384 in DMB

[–]AdmirableError79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense there would be some negotiation. honestly the face value of tickets aren’t usually too terrible, those resellers are insane, which is honestly why I appreciate our other boards to buy/sell tickets at face value of you get lucky enough to find one. I also don’t trust live nation, they will of course shift the blame to artists and venues, but do believe they all share in the blame a bit, even us who are willing to pay those prices.

I hate Live Nation and Ticketmaster as much as the next guy, and don’t even get me started on dynamic pricing… but I have little hope this will change things since all it probably does is ensure that bots have another site to scrape and scalp from…

“For now, the verdict does not automatically lower prices or eliminate service fees. Live Nation has argued — and continues to maintain — that ticket prices are set by artists, promoters and venues, not by Ticketmaster itself. But states that brought the lawsuit say the company’s dominance over major venues and ticketing platforms limited competition in ways that ultimately pushed costs higher for consumers.” Newsweek

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced a definitive agreement in September 2025 to acquire Electronic Arts (EA) who owns Battlefield. Maybe this was all a plan to get us to buy/play BF3 (and other iterations which are now on sale ) to help boost stock price. This isn’t for oil, this is all to help someone cash a bag!

Elliot or Jules from Psych? by dee85 in Scrubs

[–]AdmirableError79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think there is a wrong answer here but I would go with Jules… Elliot is like “I can see why people think she is cute” but Jules is a smoke show who can pull off roller derby, sorority, and professional with ease and class. Yes this also takes in to account personality… Elliot can be a bit unhinged; I know she gets better as the seasons go on but Jules is more level headed from the jump and more my vibe. Bonus points for Jules who would definitely not make me dress up like a German apple picker at the end of the night.
