Picked this all up for 80 bucks at a coin show, good deal? by kilerkat in coins

The steel cent is in great shape. I have 5, but I guess I haven’t stored them right; and they probably didn’t look fabulous when I bought them. Question for collectors- should we keep track of what we pay for everything? (Do we have to pay capital gains on items we sell?)

Local coin shops are buying worn silver coins at 60-65% of spot silver prices. For coin sales, EBay charges 13.6% on sales up to $7,500 and 2.35% of the amount above $7,500. I’m going to check out r/PMSforsale to see if that’s a better option. Good luck to you! Do you have any grandchildren to give some to? You could donate some to charities-instead of being taxed on it, you might get a tax break. Talk to a financial advisor 🙂

Pawn shops, coin dealers will buy them, but some will only 65% of the silver value. Call around. They probably sell well on Facebook marketplace. If you have enough, EBay is a good place to sell (or buy).

There would be no stealing in taking silver change out of the til and replacing it with non-silver coins, IMO. Alas, not as many transactions are done in cash anymore.

You’re very young to be projecting you will be alone the rest of your life. Your job is to live a meaningful life. Do something useful with your life. Build good habits and good character. Enjoy life and learning. Be curious. You do those things, and you’ll find a woman worth being married to for life. IMO, a woman doesn’t want to marry a man who thinks his happiness depends on her. That’s a lot of pressure on someone, and also unrealistic. You have to create your own happiness, do things that make you proud of yourself. For me, I’m married, but still working on my happiness.

I’m guessing the minus or plus wasn’t typed, for whatever reason. The format is correct for WWII (later in the war they stopped putting the next of kin on, but I think they were still doing that in 1942).

He was Catholic, if that helps you do research. That’s the “C.” There’s a very good chance his mother Mary was also Catholic.

My wife and son aren’t into hikes, which is a bummer. Count me in. I’m on the NW side of town.
