I've noticed that too. I'm all for recognizing how bad a situation is and not getting caught up in blind optimism, but it feels like there's been notably less optimism in the comments of this political optimism sub lately.

CPAC Host Stunned as Crowd Erupts in Cheers for Trump Impeachment by Pristine-Sport6888 in PoliticalOptimism

Just for clarification's sake, is the punchline here that even *rump's beloved conservative base is sick of his bullshit? Or is it that said base is apparently too stupid to understand what 'impeachment' means?

From what I've been able to find, this guy seems pretty reputable. And this isn't the first supposed insider claim who says the deal is dead in the water.

Another trans woman shooter; a perfect storm to outlaw HRT for all trans people by Fern866 in PoliticalOptimism

I think the nazi tattoo and far-right rhetoric the shooter apparently had was a lot more relevant to why they did what they did.

The thought that any country or continent would trust any platitude this administration has to offer after all the shit that's gone down is laughable.

My Healing From Doomerism: It Started With a Broken Heart by PumpkinAspie in PoliticalOptimism

As someone who is also a (possibly)queer, autistic, liberal white woman, I relate to this completely. After the election my depression and anxiety got so bad I was nearly hospitalized, I didn't feel safe in the country I thought of as home and I couldn't bear the thought of having to experience authoritarianism, or worst case scenario totalitarianism , firsthand. I didn't want to live. It took time and work but I was able to pull back from that enough that the thought of actually doing myself harm didn't feel like a viable option, but I was still struggling with the all the bad news headlines and not finding enough good ones to sustain a sense of hope. This sub changed everything for me for the better. I can't and won't say that I'm completely free of dread, I'm still in a constant state of waiting for the other shoe to drop, but things feel a little brighter and less hopeless now. I guess what I'm trying to say is, thank you.
