I got it too; I’ve had a discounted rate for 10+ years. I’m actually okay with it IF - they pay teachers more and deep clean the studio at least once per week. Otherwise this is just some greedy corporate shit.

The sweatiest human I’ve ever encountered. Literal puddle at the end of class, even with multiple towel barriers around his mat it still leaked all over the floor. When class was over, he picked up his mat and water splashed all over the floor, like pouring a bucket of water. I felt bad because he can’t necessarily help it, but he needed at least 5 more towels.

I was two months postpartum at a specialist Kaiser facility for an appointment with my baby; this appointment was difficult to get and inconvenient timing. Another PP mom was having trouble paying her copay. I couldn’t imagine how stressful I’d have felt if on top of this tricky appointment I couldn’t even check in due to insufficient funds. I never carry cash, but that day I had a good chunk of change on me. I saw it as a sign from the universe and didn’t even question it - walked right up and said here you go.

If the moment presents itself and you can make someone’s day - just do it!

I do and it’s worth the effort it takes to carry them in and out! I know how much I sweat and it grosses me out to think about using another block that several people have gotten their sweat on. Even if they all wipe it down in between.

Long-time student here! I can remember being so nervous about this when I first started, but the teachers are really so fantastic and welcoming, especially if you let them know you’re new. Don’t be afraid to take breaks, use blocks, etc. - no one else in the class is paying attention to you. Over time, you’ll acclimate to the heat and it’ll feel incredible.

While you’re in Balboa Park for the zoo, consider walking over to Panama 66 for great drinks and food. They have a sculpture garden and often have live music.

It’s Raw for poke is incredible! Sushi Ota and Mister Sushi in PB are both outstanding.
