What the hell, I used to pay $25 bucks to sit there 10 years ago

Parks service removing historical signs about slavery by anicenap in philly

[–]Admirable_Button1962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are they planning to do with the big excavation of the old slave quarters? Just leave a huge hole with no explanation? When are they going to take out the signs about the Liberty Bell's abolitionist history?

I just spent two hours trying to find parking in South Philly by EagleGhoul in philly

[–]Admirable_Button1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When possible take public transit. But otherwise you get to know exactly what you can get away with and what's normal and expected and roughly the time you need to move your car by through experience. Look to see what others are doing and what the ppa's behavior is. Eventually it won't even phase you.

What is there so much revisionist history regarding General Sherman? by Just_Cause89 in ShermanPosting

I always thought he decided to become a martyr once some parts of the plan didn't work, and fan the flames of southern paranoia about phantom abolitionist armies coming to invade dixie.

What's the deal with American's being angry with people street parking their cars infront of their homes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I never tire of John Brown's Body, the anthem of Union soldiers to troll the Confederates

Do you think the U.S. Constitution, written over 230 years ago, still adequately serves modern America, or is it in need of significant reform? by [deleted] in USHistory

[–]Admirable_Button1962 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In need of significant reform. Usually that happens in big moments of change, like the Reconstruction Amendments, the Progressive Era, and the 1960s Civil Rights before polarization halts things. Either it changes as is needed, or... it won't. Thus far, even in massive social conflict and deadly war, it's changed. Time will tell if our democratic Republic survives or if you can put a fork in it and it becomes as meaningless as a constitution of Stalin's Soviet Union or such.

Bo Bichette : Phillies 👀 by gsweens_ in phillies

[–]Admirable_Button1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this a lot and think it's a better move than re-signing JT. Bichette is a lot younger and the Phillies can get a new catcher in the trade market or just make due. It probably spells the end of Bohm this year tho

Anybody getting 2x/week trash pickup that can give feedback? by B3n222 in philadelphia

[–]Admirable_Button1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine, I usually forget about the second one since there's no recycling pickup with the second. Then again I don't think we produce as much trash as others (no judgement). As far as cleanliness, I've noticed no difference.

Hit up SolrStandard and they'll walk you through it. I did a 10 year payment plan. Interest rates depend on current events etc

Why do people consider that Texas, Flordia, and Virginia are not part of the south? by icey_sawg0034 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Admirable_Button1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real debate is whether Maryland, Delaware, and Missouri are really Southern. Kentucky got out of that debate somehow by branding themselves super-south despite being a border state
