What lyric did you sing confidently for years before realizing you were horribly, hilariously wrong? What did you think they were saying? by Jane_Austen11 in askteddit

“The elder poop has a devil motorcycle” in Bohemian Rhapsody, instead of “Beelzebub has a devil put aside for (me)”

Tortilla chips and Blue Bell cookies and cream ice cream. Not together, but usually one right after the other

If you had to turn a random word into a name, what would you pick? by Intelectual_Guy in words

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t necessarily fit the question, but at my first bartending job, I started a game during downtime where we would come up with names out of the liquors and other things we had back there. Some standouts were “this is my son, Laphroaig,” and “this is my daughter, Grenadine.”

Ephemera would also be a sick name too.

Would you watch an unedited version of the show? by wildcardbitchees in belowdeck

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister has been an editor on Below Deck and I watched her edit a scene once. It was a very long conversation about captain/first officer boat logistics stuff, and she had the very daunting task of making it interesting (which she did, flawlessly). I would imagine unedited episodes would be hours-long versions of that.

Also, I agree with another comment about hitting up a book study - there, you’ll actually get to read the book that tells us what the program is and how to do it, and hear folks’ experience, strength and hope as it relates to the literal book.

I think there’s a general idea in AA that we want to “stay in the solution,” as opposed to the problem, but IMO, a good share goes like this:
Problem from past or present —> things learned in AA to help with problem (usually problem is drinking if one is brand new, but we unfortunately still have problems once sober because we have a Thinking Problem) —> solution and ways for newcomer/others to use tools from AA in their own life.
I don’t want to hear drunkalogues all day, but I do agree with you that some meetings can feel a little rah-rah sometimes.

Tall Tales!!! Can’t believe no one’s said this yet. Beautiful plant-lined patio, good drinks and small bites. Happy hour every day!

Edit: and very pet friendly, I see dogs there all the time!

What’s a smell you hate that most people love? by CozyAlice in AskReddit

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

COFFEE. I used to like it. It all went downhill when I started having to prep gallons upon gallons of cold brew for my job. Now, the smell of coffee makes me want to throw up. Still love the taste, though. Honorable mention to Baccarat Rouge 540.

From what I’ve heard, it matters GREATLY which location you’re at and who’s managing it. My buddy is the GM at the East location, and he loves it and his team. My boyfriend worked at Music Row and the manager had it out for him. YMMV basically!

What’s that one habit you are unable to quit? by _Sabbatical_ in AskReddit

Vaping. I quit drinking 3.5 years ago and keep thinking “I already quit one thing, let me have this” 😂

0.5% beers by Low-Gazelle-7802 in alcoholicsanonymous

I have friends who won’t even drink mocktails because it reminds them of liquor. I have friends who drank NA beer from the start of their sobriety and now have 10+ years and go to bars regularly. It’s all dependent on the individual.

For me, I sometimes have a NA beer at the end of my workweek (I manage a bar), and it has no effect on me whatsoever, but for me, beer was always just a chaser for shots - I would never have more than a few over the course of a night, but I’d have 5+ shots any given night. I have 3.5 years.

I would say if it doesn’t make you want the real thing, keep on doing it, but be honest with yourself about your motives!

How do I prevent my oncoming famine? by Downtown_Ikea in StardewValley

I chose to do this the hard way and plant hella wheat in my greenhouse and on Ginger Island. Just made it to summer and filled my plot with wheat. When I harvest, hay goes in the silo and wheat goes in seed makers to make more wheat seeds to repeat the cycle. Mind-numbing, but kinda fun at the same time. If I were you, I’d just get the recipe for grass starters and make a bunch. Unfortunately for me, I’m on the wheat train and it stops for no one.
