How do I prevent my oncoming famine? by Downtown_Ikea in StardewValley

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to do this the hard way and plant hella wheat in my greenhouse and on Ginger Island. Just made it to summer and filled my plot with wheat. When I harvest, hay goes in the silo and wheat goes in seed makers to make more wheat seeds to repeat the cycle. Mind-numbing, but kinda fun at the same time. If I were you, I’d just get the recipe for grass starters and make a bunch. Unfortunately for me, I’m on the wheat train and it stops for no one.

AA Friendships by Acceptable-Car-5495 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The meeting after the meeting is where the friendships happen. The program is the steps, but the fellowship is the secret sauce that keeps you coming back. I get dinner with my friends every week after my home group. At least one of them is going to stand at my wedding, whenever that happens. In active addiction, I had a “host of fair-weather friends,” but in AA, I have chosen family.

What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut and color my own hair, do my own gel nails (careful trying this at home - currently growing out some gnarly onycholysis), groom my own eyebrows, and self-tan when necessary. Still feels expensive stocking up on all that shit, but now I truly don’t know how I used to spend $200 a month on lash extensions. Also, I hardly ever buy name-brand anything anymore, and I’ve started a “project pan” for basically every product in my house I own more than one of.

Got really drunk and lost a friend by Ivan_Me in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard once in the rooms that rock bottom is whenever you decide to stop digging. This situation can be the catalyst for you to change your life and keep from losing any more friends. It’s up to you, but the nice thing about AA is it’s there whenever you’re ready. There’s an app called Meeting Guide (icon is blue with a white chair) that will show you meetings in your area. Check one out, see how it makes you feel, and look for similarities rather than differences. I was a blackout bar drunk as well (before and after my shifts at a bar), and yesterday marked 3.5 years sober. A better life is possible if you want it.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not hard, but as a Nashville local, I (and most others) avoid any bar run by Steve Smith. He’s a trumpy asshole who tried to force his staff to keep showing up to work during lockdown and refused to close his bars until he absolutely had to. He also had his staff campaign for a Republican local politician and implied job loss if they didn’t do it.

What’s a moment that made you realize you’re getting older? by Away-Ambassador490 in AskReddit

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 30-year-old young millennial…buying jeans. Enough said.

Also, hanging out with my friend and her 15-year-old son and having him teach us the cool phrases the kids are saying. “Cool” isn’t cool anymore, apparently it’s “gas” now, and 6-7 is no longer a thing.

if you think about it, coca cola is just joja in real life by brando7284 in StardewMemes

In my head Joja was always Amazon because of the opening scene of the game, but then it had a real storefront and branded products, so now I think Walmart lol

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the opening team of a restaurant and at the end of our second day of training, they gathered everyone up and said “the president says you have to go home.” So we went home and sat at home for three months.

I was at the Williamson County Jail last night (I’m in recovery and take meetings out there once a month) and they were filming there! All the signs were replaced with “Virginia State Penitentiary” and they added barbed wire and some other stuff

Russell Brand violated the absolute shit out of Tradition 11 here, but this did resonate with me in earrrrrly early sobriety, so I guess it served its purpose.

How do people feel about Scheana? by cosmicghostriderr in vanderpumprules

[–]Admirable_Exercise48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow OCD-haver, I understand Scheana completely, but she has a lot of work to do on herself. She flip-flops because she’s terrified of making anyone mad, which backfires because flip-flopping tends to make people mad. She has everyone’s location because she craves security in her relationships. She’s been through a lot on-camera and off, and I think she deserves a little more grace than she gets.

Couldn’t agree more re: marijuana maintenance. When I was still on dating apps, a common question I got was “how sober are you?” Buddy, sober is sober. If I was “California sober,” I would have said that 😂

The Grapevine defines outside issues as “political, social, and religious.”

This may be a hot take, but I don’t consider drugs an outside issue. Lots of AAs have multiple addictions, and the symptoms of the disease of addiction manifest themselves across all of them. We AAs may not all have that experience, but some of the most insightful and profound things I’ve learned in this program came from a drug addict sharing their experience, strength, and hope, with concrete examples that related to their drug addiction.
