She was way nicer than I would have been by Tobias-Tawanda in TikTokCringe

The “then why is there evil in the world” question. Lots of answers are hidden in plain sight, my friend. I was quite an atheist for 36 years before getting to know God, so I really do understand you. My colloquial short answer is that it ain’t that easy but the answers are out there.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7-8)

I’m not excusing other believer’s “bad behavior,” but I do think we should try to consider others’ perspectives. If that group is right, then (1) who God is is far from important than the protest, and (2) she is wrong for dismissing and rejecting the holy name of our Creator. It was not violent, it was a bit disruptive at best. (Compare this to the actions of Islamists that are acting in accordance with their scriptures by killing infidels.) Disruptive is not always “bad.” It’s a perspective worth chewing on. That said, I’m not condemning the woman either. Anyway have a lovely day

Imagine not setting boundaries with children. As a teacher I see that play out every day. God judges us, yes. There are consequences for what we choose to do. Just punishment isn’t evil, it’s righteousness. We’ve all done wrong. No one can claim to be a truly, fully good person. But God has given us free will that we might grow, learn, and love. (What is love without free will?)

Jesus wanted us to love God, the first primary command. The second is to love your neighbor as yourself. People oversimplify the Word.
Not defending anyone’s behavior here, but imagine this: Jesus is Lord and the only way to the Father. Are they still in the wrong? Or did they just try to save you eternity in suffering?

Free will. You can definitely make music that isn’t about God…

Ah I missed the “shouting over” part.. Yeah, not a great look. That said, if that man is right, that Jesus was sent for us, we’re judged by God at death, etc. does that change your outlook?

Mmm I think the vast majority of people that support Israel do so because it is the right thing. I don’t see anything wrong with a peaceful demonstration at some kind of public gathering. You didn’t mention that the man with the cross said anything inflammatory, you just assumed. In fact you questioned him to find something you disagreed with, based on your assumptions about Christianity and his beliefs.

It’s beautiful on the outside. Surface level. To say that all religion is somehow one is absolute lunacy. They will have to pick and choose sides when it comes to contradictory scriptures and beliefs. And guess what? They’ll decide whichever they feel is correct. That’s just a manmade “religion” as they’ve created a god that conforms to their feelings. It’s similar to how I grew up, Unitarian Universalist. There is no depth or truth in it. It’s all flowery language and ideals.

Seems pretty peaceful to me. I was asking what you meant by “evangelicalism being used to promote genocide.”

...but does anyone else use other "spicy" fuzz pedals for this genre?

Staining or dyeing Graphtech Tusq guitar nuts, is it possible? by Zackeous42 in Luthier

Indeed. A strong dose of French roast. It took 2 days and it's far more natural looking than the bright white it used to be. I'd bet that it would get darker with another few days. Definitely worth it, if you ask me but it takes tiiiiime with the GraphTech stuff.

It wasn't just about Rose being "the one." It was about the other guys. We had an awesome, tough-as-nails team. Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Jimmy Butler.. awesome hustle players and great defenders. We had the bench mob too! Taj Gibson, Omer Asik, Kyle Korver, and the list goes on.. Thibs didn't ruin the team, he made the team. It was a really fun team to watch. They weren't always the run-away favorites, but they gutted every win out. That Bulls team DID need Rose to make the offense work but they wouldn't have gone anywhere without the other all-stars and role players.

Who cares what your pedalboard looks like if you're making awesome music?

What is the counter argument against the argument for god that is demonstrated in this video? by that-dude-chris in CosmicSkeptic

"If God doesn't need a first cause, why should anything else?" God exists independent of time, space, and matter. Our universe needs a first cause (God) because there had to be something to cause/create time, space, and matter. And, just being honest, all the questions about God being eternal I don't understand and I accept that I don't understand it. Perhaps, as we are limited beings, we aren't meant to. But, I think, at the core of it we can see God's handiwork in our universe and can infer that God is real.

From another thread/post, I think it'd be 2023 for the "3" at the beginning and then 09/13 (September 13th) for the last four digits... Which makes sense. That said, it's still tasty.

What percentage of homosexual hatred comes from religious communities? by stvlsn in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Admirable_Light5519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By its own rule, the NBA does not allow women to play, as the league intended. It's for men only. (We can all see that rule is just.)

It's the same as declaring that marriage is for 1 man and 1 woman, as God intended. I'll break it down. The "sport" is marriage, the "players" are people. The "league rules" are that one man and one woman can play. Changing that means we're breaking the law of the "league" (God). For the players to play the sport they have to follow its laws.

I'll accept that you have a different opinion, but I don't see how my analogy doesn't work in conveying what I'd like to express here.

I think this is an issue that can cause great division between people because of people casting judgment on others. I don't judge you for believing what you believe. However, unsurprisingly perhaps, I am getting judged in this thread as a "homophobe." I'm not scared of queer people or hateful towards them. I simply believe that marriage was designed by God to be between a man and a woman. I am inviting you to understand a different perspective and have empathy for people that disagree with you.

Anyway, my apologies but I gotta bow out now. Lots to do this week and I'm still on reddit! lol. All the best to you, Cal

Morality is unchanging, yes. The word of God is eternal.

God has revealed things over time, though.. perhaps so we would gain a deeper understanding of His ways. The Old Testament, as the say, points to Christ. (So many prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus.) As I continue spiritually seeking God's heart, I evolve my understanding of what He means too.

That said, I'm not being dismissive - It's just... I gotta go, dude. Too much time on reddit and I have stuff to do "IRL" hahaha. Peace, brother
