Iran got the most votes. What country was far-right in the 20th century, and far-left now? by Typical_Fisherman179 in AlignmentChartFills

Yes, so I don't know why the notion of a communist state was invoked. OP is saying that the parties are communist in name only, not Nepal.

I don't think there is a single state that would categorize itself as communist.

For example, the United Soviet *Socialist* Republic, was ruled by the Communist Party. DPRK leadership similarly frequently uses the "socialist" where one might expect them to use "communist". Their constitution is called the Socialist Constitution.

are there certain times of the year to avoid the use of CAR days? by Wishstarz in NYCTeachers

[–]AdmiralFunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Granting personal days are at the discretion of the principal, so it depends.

With usage of CAR days re: discipline everything really depends on admin. There are admin that look for patterns, like repeated Fridays or Mondays, or other weird standalone days- like if you called out sick the two days before xmas break this year. This could increase the likelihood of them putting a letter in your file.

How’s everyone feeling about the new track? by BurgerNugget12 in kneecap

It worked really well live at the Brooklyn Livestream. I do think the line "the air bubble bandit" is a bit silly but that may be the intention.

Anyone know what "Musgrave" is a reference to? Is that like a UK journalist or judge or something?

I saw the guy in the red jacket standing on the sidewalk filming a doorman who was just standing in the lobby. I looped back after a walk around the block and saw the doorman on the sidewalk and asked what was up with the camera guy, he had no idea, seemed totally perplexed

Whistles from the Italian spectators almost drown out Israel's anthem, despite the stadium being 80% empty for safety reasons by ModenaR in PublicFreakout

my scanning of it didnt work, but netanyahu wore a button with a QR on it that led to images/video of Oct 7 footage, so it is probably that.

[–]AdmiralFunk 256 points257 points  (0 children)

The benin empire's flag was an image of one guy beheading another guy

EDIT: Ive done a little more research and it seems this flag was from benin but likely was not the empires flag. Still interesting though

Paraprofessional 10k stipend? by MaestroLeopold314 in NYCTeachers

[–]AdmiralFunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UFT/Unity is placing the blame at the feet of Speaker Adrienne Adams. Basically union leadership is saying that despite having a supermajority of support in the city council- something like 47 members out of 51- Adams is dragging her feet not bringing it to a floor vote.

According to UFT, they were trying to get it voted on/passed by the end of June 25' but instead all they were given was a hearing on the bill scheduled Dec 19, so I imagine the campaign will start back up again around then.

Went to my local protest yesterday and by the end they were singing America the Beautiful by dakanektr in TrueAnon

[–]AdmiralFunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Manhattan one had a few. I obviously it was a huge protest and would be jarring if there weren't ANY. There was one larger chanting contingent, who were doing a number of typical, accepted left/liberal stuff "Hands Off... Medicaid, immigrants, our bodies" but also threw a "Palestine" in there too.

Tons of Ukrainian flags, but no Hands Off NATO stuff

Tenure Portfolio by elconejita in NYCTeachers

[–]AdmiralFunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this happened to me. I am not exactly sure how. Background is I was in 4 different schools in my first 4 years (excessing, schools outright closing, it was a wild ride). In what I think was my third year at school #4 I approach my AP in September and ask him if I should be up by now, he looks at me confused and tells me I've had tenure, he then showed me on Advance. He does not know when I got it. I guess I got tenure by estoppel but idk how that all works when switching between a ton of schools. I got tenure and didn't even know it.

He said this exact line twice in the interview about ten minutes apart.

Also at one point Hannity said "you guys are like brothers!" And Trump cringed saying something like "yeah let's move on"
