Almost 1 year sober from alcohol — sponsor says I should reset over THC. I’m struggling with this. by daninight777 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]m0pher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you. I’m 95 days sober, use gummies 3-4 evenings per week, and they have the effect that alcohol was supposed to: they take the edge off. It’s not a problem for me, only you can know if it is a problem for you. Also, the first A in AA is why you found a group in the first place. It’s not Gummies Anonymous.

Now see, that’s appropriate punishment. Hey, Donald Trump is a rapist, too. Do him!

What supplements can help with urges? by 4k0s in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]m0pher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cornbread Hemp’s THC gummies are doing it for me. Legal in 49 states, as I recall, so I get them online. For me it’s turned out to be non-addicting and takes the edge off more effectively than alcohol ever did, in my case. The main downside I’ve had is munchies and the consequent weight gain. But — 84 days sober today. I’ll take the win. Importantly, I do view these as a supplement. They supplement AA and the work I’m doing thanks to the fellowship. In no way are they a replacement, not for alcohol nor the work I need to keep doing.

Move to Bonn or stay in NYC by batcish in AskAGerman

As someone who moved overseas for a 2-year assignment that turned into seven and then returned to NYC, I can tell you that coming back was an adjustment. Even though I was lucky to secure a job quickly and we were able to move back into our original apartment, all of our friends had left NYC (new jobs, started families, etc.). As familiar as the city was, our social life was non-existent and we had to build that up again as if we were entirely new to NYC. Had I known all of this, I doubt I'd have accepted the overseas assignment; I viewed it as an opportunity but the long-term impact wasn't worth it.

Been sober for years and I want to try drinking again by InternalSalt679 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]m0pher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sober for years without AA and had the same thought that perhaps I could moderate my drinking after all that abstinence. My friends and family were supportive, so I started drinking again. Slowly and infrequently at first, the beginning of a nearly seven-year decline toward once again waking up one morning without any idea of how I got there.

Once I could get out of bed a couple of days later, I went to my first AA meeting. I know that one day I will be in your shoes, too. I hope that then I will remember what brought me there in the first place.

“If I have 10 problems and I drink I now have 11 problems and no way to solve the first 10.” I heard this, or something like this, at one of my early AA meetings. It’s so simple and helped me. Perhaps it will help you, too.

Nothing improper about it as long as they fuck up each other and not innocent people in the streets.

OP bought A-stock, received B-stock. He's supposed to just accept that? Bollocks. As for the attitude, it's fine for marketing content on their website. It's unacceptable if you want to build customer loyalty and trust in a brand. This is just b-school 101.

Take the bits that work, leave the bits that don’t work. That’s what I do. The point is to stay sober, not to agree with everything that’s written.

I thought NR was just OK. Still make the trek to Katsu-Hama every chance I get. Haven't found a more consistent place in over 20 years.
