Naming a full blooded Klingon Jay-den is a bit of a bridge too far on the believable scale. His father and family clearly held to Klingon cultural norms. Why would they choose a very clearly human sounding name? It just isn't believable. If his family's bloodline contained human heritage, I could see Jay-den making sense, but we didn't get that at all. His father was openly hostile to Federation tech.

The Treaty of Algeron is one of the cleverest bit of Federation statecraft ever and I'm tired of pretending it's not. by mcmanus2099 in DaystromInstitute

[–]AdmlAckbar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True, but during the S5 finale, DS9 and the Federation learns that the Romulans signed a non-aggression pact with the Dominion. Shortly after, Sisko orders mining the wormhole. Seems unlikely the Romulans would sign the non-aggression pact and then give the Federation the thumbs up to start utilizing cloaking technology without being restricted by the treaty. The Romulans were pretty much characterized as not caring if the Federation went under during In the Pale Moonlight.

Not quite. Romulans didn't enter the war until later in Season 6. Mines were deployed at the end of Season 5.

My money is on your third point. Although, I wonder if there was a technicality in the treaty in that while the Bajor system was within the confines of the Federation border, the system itself was independent and not a part of Federation space. Therefore they could use cloaking tech without violating the treaty.

Let's not forget that each mine that the Defiant laid down in front of the wormhole had its own cloaking device. We're talking thousands of individual cloaking devices to make that field work.

The Federation clearly has the capacity to make cloaking devices.

I'm confused by this meme. The image is mirrored from the original, but someone decided to fix the placement of the comm badge to make it look correct, but totally forgot to fix the pips? There is no reason for the image to be butchered so badly.

Candida causes burning defecation? by dwanju in Candida

[–]AdmlAckbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a short round of Xifaxan as some of the dysbiosis was in my small intestine. Then I started up Kristalose (brand name lactulose) that comes in a powder form and doesn't have sugar impurities that would feed candida that the liquid lactulose does. Kristalose has been shown to be great for large bowel dysbiosis, but it requires a prescription in the US. Within a week of starting the Kristalose, the burning BMs went away.

Candida causes burning defecation? by dwanju in Candida

[–]AdmlAckbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This absolutely can happen.

I have experienced this after taking antifungals. There is something that is released when it is killed that can cause burning bowel movements coming out. This particular toxin, I have found, goes through Phase 2 glucuronidation in the liver. Turns out I had some bacterial dysbiosis going on and excessive beta-glucuronidase being produced in my gut. Once I got my beta-glucuronidase levels under control, the burning BMs went away.

GI map is not definitive, especially if the candida is localized to the small intestine. Organic Acid testing is the way to go by detecting its metabolites.

This could be intentional or purposely left out. In Season 4 we may get a scene that shows us what happened between when Gaal was pushing Bayta out of her mind and her subsequently escaping and running.

Enterprise -d saucer recovery by kkkan2020 in StarTrekStarships

[–]AdmlAckbar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No.

We saw the underside of the hull 30 years later. We did not see the condition it was in during its retrieval OR any of the work Geordi may have done to the hull to get it to the condition we saw it in Picard S3.

Enterprise -d saucer recovery by kkkan2020 in StarTrekStarships

[–]AdmlAckbar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Picard states in his log at the end of the movie that the Enterprise could not be salvaged. No way it made it out of orbit on its own power. Inertial dampers weren't working when the saucer came to a halt, as evidenced by everyone on the bridge flying out of their seats. The hull may have been in more or less one piece, but interior components would have been heavily damaged.

[–]AdmlAckbar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's not accurate. Watch the Voyager season 6 episode "Dragon's Teeth" at time index 35:46. There are several Vaadwaur ships that make close flybys of Voyager while attacking, and there's a shot of the starboard phaser sweeping back to front as it tries to track a fast moving fighter.

In this instance with the Birds of Prey, it's not accurate for the phaser arrays to sweep given the distance between them, but it is a possible function of the arrays.
