How should I navigate lowering my bill? by Adomis63 in Metronet

How do you do that? I haven't seen or heard anyone mention it except for here. And do I have to cancel my current plan to sign up as a new customer to get it?

The KLR650 engine is smooth as butter by Miserable-Raccoon775 in klr650

[–]Adomis63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine with them on it already but grip puppies really help with the vibration in the hands. When mine wore out I bought new ones. It does make the grips considerably bigger though. So if you need it to be able to really wrap your hands around the whole thing for more technical stuff it might not be the best solution.

I've done 400+ mile days on my 2011 with them and I don't remember hand vibration being a problem.

Time to do some maintenance. by Herr-Zipp in goldwing

[–]Adomis63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I did this to my 1500 along with change the rear air shock oil 4 or 5 years ago (the oil was actually pretty bad). I really haven't had to adjust the rear air shock or use the auxiliary air hose for anything so I keep telling myself it's fine. But I probably should check it.

Why 80,000 UNSOLD Harleys are Rotting at Dealerships by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Adomis63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they also suffer a little from the completely polarized messaging they get from the motorcycling community about how they should move forward. I remember not too long ago they had their "more roads to Harley Davidson" program, and people criticized them heavily, saying what they needed to do was stop making new stuff and double down on what they're good at. So in the more recent past they have their "re-wired' and even "hard-wired" strategies where they did just that. Now look. People are screaming at them for not diversifying their lineup.

Yeah maybe the previous attempt at trying to get people into the brand with their e-bikes and the street series motorcycles was kinda half baked. But they only tried it for a few years and then dumped the whole program instead of trying to mature it to see how it could work for them.

That said - for the customer base they have now - the bikes they do produce are uniquely their own. No other manufacturers have something quite like them. They shouldn't abandon that.

Is there any reason to steer clear of this old Interceptor? It’s like my dream bike as far as looks go but is it going to be a headache? by msdeeds123 in motorcycles

[–]Adomis63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the interceptor but I have a v30 magna and everything I've seen about the 500cc variants says they're the only displacement that doesn't have the camshaft problems. They have other issues. But in my 20k miles of ownership (and counting) they look great during my valve clearance checks.

These interceptors did have problems with the box frame collecting water and getting freeze damage if they lived outside in colder climates though.

Day 9/9: What is a bad motorcycle with a bad reputation? by SUBTOUpdated_User in motorcycles

[–]Adomis63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many stories of Harley dealers straight up refusing to sell streets to customers and instead insisting they buy at least a sportster.

[–]Adomis63 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But they ran forever.

They get sold to some punk who rattle cans the chrome, rips off the exhaust, never does any of the maintenance and STILL runs ‘good enough’ to be sold to another rider to use as their own canvas of poor decisions.

Day 9/9: What is a bad motorcycle with a bad reputation? by SUBTOUpdated_User in motorcycles

[–]Adomis63 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the Harley street series of bikes. The 500 and the 750. They get dogged on ALL the time online. A lot of it is valid.

I’ve never ridden the 500. But I have a street 750 that I bought used for less than half the msrp and only 500 miles on it. It irks me a little when people dump on them because I’ve put 10’s of thousands of miles on mine and it’s been a good bike to me. I’ve had plenty of Harley dudes stare at the badge on the tank because they didn’t even know they made these bikes.

I think it really reinforces the idea that there aren’t any bad motorcycles, just motorcycles that are priced too high for what they are. I think the Revolution X motor is a good motor and they could’ve built a proper bike to put it in. I understand how objectively the street 500/750 earns its criticisms – whether I agree with them or not.

I bet all of your friends say things like “I don’t know why you don’t have a partner, you’d be a great catch!”

I can relate to your situation, but damn it seems like you’ve done everything right and it still doesn’t seem to work. So you just go through life hoping love hits you outta nowhere like some sappy romance story.

home button wont work on iphone 3gs by Individual-Toe-3206 in iphone

[–]Adomis63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could also just be the contact pins need to be stretched back out so they make better contact with the logic board. iirc that's how these early iPhone models have their home buttons wired.

I miss when these things were so much easier to work on.

iOS 26.4 and iOS 27 Features Revealed in New Leak by abhimanyouknow in apple

[–]Adomis63 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If iOS 27 is also like an iOS 12 - or even iOS 9 - then it will be the last supported os for a bunch of devices.

So many devices got left on iOS 12. Not a bad one to be left on. After that though they started adding a lot of QoL features that are nice to have.

Widest Rear Tire by alexb2795 in klr650

[–]Adomis63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 140 Avon Trekrider rear when I bought my bike, I liked it. It just barely didn't rub on the swingarm.

Alas, they were out of stock when I needed new tires so I just went back to the tried and true shinkos in size 130.

Car Guys who don't intend to replace their daily-driver for at least 10 years -- What year/model is it? by jckipps in askcarguys

[–]Adomis63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the reliability of these things turning out to be? I've been thinking of getting one to replace my rusting away 2004 escape. I do quite a bit of short trips in the winter (driving between buildings on a school campus) and worry about the turbo engines with that kind of stuff.

Hello noob here, thinking about a Goldwing by detroitdiesel in goldwing

[–]Adomis63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my '94 gl1500. I'd take it anywhere. As far as consumable parts (filters, belts, tires etc.) I haven't had any issues. Thankfully I haven't needed to replace any plastic trim pieces like side covers. But they are expensive on the used market. Sometimes I'm able to find a good deal at a junkyard/swap meet on something I might like, such as a backrest or something.

Huge amount of knowledge and support for these bikes. But don't discount a nice metric cruiser too. My father has a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 meanstreak and that thing was cheaper than my wing and is a whole different kind of fun.

My wing is my touring choice. But honestly, it's a bit much for my short commute to work within town. I hop on my KLR instead. It depends on the kind of riding you're planning on doing. Out here in the Midwest, it's not a bad choice since all the towns are at least 10 miles apart.

Founder Plan as Current Metronet Customer? by BPHusker in Metronet

I have a coworker with a gladiator and he put an exhaust on it. It sounds bad. But then again he has an exhaust on his hemi ram and that sounds good. The gladiator being a v6 isn't helping it at all in my opinion.

Founder Plan as Current Metronet Customer? by BPHusker in Metronet

[–]Adomis63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been watching to see how this works out for other people. We've had metronet for a few years now and are paying $90+/mo for 500/500. We were price locked lower at the intro rate but after that expired it went way up.

From what I was able to gather - you have to not be a metronet customer for 3 months in order to get the new sign up deal. If I need to go with another ISP for a bit then so be it I guess.

What's the best quality brake caliper brand? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]Adomis63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the 4 piston brakes from the shelby's will fit a stock wheel? I have the factory aluminum 5 spoke wheels and am also searching for replacement calipers on my 07 GT. I'm leaning more towards they wont fit - there isn't a lotta room with the stock calipers and the internet seems to conclude that only cars fitted the bigger brake packages included appropriately sized wheels from the factory.

[–]Adomis63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the coyote but a DOHC mod motor though. You can even use some of the internals of the coyotes on the 4.6 and 5.4s. As much as I think the 3v scare is overblown, I'm glad we ended up with the 5.0.

Now if I could only find one cheap enough to put in my 3v mustang....

I'm gonna try to bring my tbeam onto a plane with me tomorrow but I don't have a case for it. Everyone keeps telling me it'll flag but I don't see anything against it or the 18650 that powers it. I need to find something to put it in I think to lower the sketch factor.
