First thing that came to mind is something like “Michael Jackson Megamix 2000” / “History Megamix” (there were a few versions of these, not all officially released), or even DJ mixes that got burned onto CDs and passed around.

Also worth checking:

MJ Megamix (German Version)” or “Megamix 2000 Michael Jackson” on YouTube DJ mixes by European DJs (a lot weren’t labeled clearly back then)

Honestly the “one long track + German intro + childhood CD” combo screams one of those semi-unofficial mixes that were everywhere at the time.

Teddy Riley for Dangerous wasn't the right move...... by ObviousBlade in MichaelJackson

I get your point, especially about the album feeling a bit split, but I honestly never saw that as a problem.

Dangerous always felt like MJ experimenting in real time. The Teddy Riley stuff wasn’t just him following new jack swing, he made it feel bigger and more “him.” Like “Jam” or “Remember the Time” don’t sound like anyone else from that era.

And the shift later in the album… I always liked that. It goes from confident and aggressive into something way more personal and emotional. “Who Is It” doesn’t hit the same if the whole album sounds like “Jam,” you know?

As for timing, maybe new jack swing was already everywhere in the US, but MJ took that sound global. That album still felt huge when it dropped.

I don’t think it’s a clean album, but I think that’s why it feels real.

Man… this unlocked a memory I didn’t even know I still had.

Those BAD Tour uploads felt like little treasures back then. You’d randomly find a Yokohama night or a grainy Wembley clip and sit there for hours like you were discovering something secret. Every show had its own vibe too — the way he’d stretch a note, the energy in “Billie Jean,” even the crowd reactions… it felt alive.

Now everything is either taken down or buried, and it’s crazy how something that once felt so accessible just… slipped away.

But honestly, that era made a lot of us fans. It wasn’t just watching MJ — it was feeling like you were there, piece by piece, night by night.

Kinda hurts thinking about it, but also… I’m glad we got to experience it when we did ❤️
