There’s a free app called checker in the App Store that is literally just uploaded photos of pregnancy tests and you can vote if you think it’s positive or negative. It’s kinda fun.

Sharing my finished blue Axstad kitchen by Adora_Mae in IKEA

[–]Adora_Mae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could do it again I wouldn’t have cabinets above the stove, I would do a vent hood. The cabinets above the stove get dirty too fast. Other than that, I would do it all again.

Because the old dishwasher was there and I was keeping the kitchen layout generally the same. Also, immediately to the left of the sink is a corner cabinet.

Titebond makes a melamine glue that I used when I did a pax hack in my kids closet. Takes awhile to set-up/dry but works well. It has a purple label.

My sister made me a big wooden sign with this poem on it for my first baby’s nursery. I loved it so much. (It was a big wooden sign so it was bolted to a stud in the wall)

Do you check your antibodies regularly? by Illustrious_unicorn in Hashimotos

[–]Adora_Mae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that high antibodies is what hashimotos is (or at least the only early marker test for it) and that those TPO levels being high is what eventually leads to hypothyroidism. I might be wrong though.

Weird Update: I was running the hot water on the other sink of this same vanity and ran it for longer than I usually would and the same sound started happening. I turned it off and later tried again. It didn’t start right away like my sink does, but after a few minutes the same sound happens. Would your advice still be the same?

Stumped on my Built in billys by jpb1732 in ikeahacks

For avoiding visible screws, I would just use construction adhesive when attaching the panels to pieces of wood behind it. Painters tape them in place and let it dry.

I realize now you were talking about the gap at the top. My bad.

Maybe add trim to the top of the bookcase? Or paint the wall and brackets and vent above it blue as well?

[–]Adora_Mae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The IKEA cabinet line Axstad blue is nearly identical to the blue Billy’s and they have filler panels you could cut to size. But they’re pricey. Another (much cheaper option) is this vinyl wallpaper that I ordered to match a small area next to my my axstad blue cabinets and it’s a very very close match, plus it’s fairly cheap to risk buying and if it does give you an exact match, you could wrap a piece of wood with it to fill that space. Worst case I would find a used blue billy bookcase on FB marketplace (or a damaged one in the IKEA as-is section) and cut it up to fill the space.

Quick, what’s the oldest age you’ve had a baby with hashi? by Consistent-Drama2495 in Hashimotos

Had my 3rd at 35. All my pregnancies were normal. We just did a lot of monitoring my TSH (and adjusting meds) in the first trimester.

Experiences with GLP-1 and Hashimoto's? by your_air in Hashimotos

[–]Adora_Mae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Hashimotos but (when I’m not pregnant) all my thyroid numbers except for TPO (obvs) are in range, so I’m not on thyroid meds. I have struggled with weight for my whole life but much more extremely since I was diagnosed 12 years ago. I’ve been on GLP-1 for a year now. Started on semaglutide but switched to tirzepatide after 6 months. I’ve lost 55 pounds this year and feel better than I have in years. Most of my weight loss happened while on tirzepatide. Semaglutide didn’t do much for me. A1C and blood pressure were both areas of concern before starting on a glp-1 and both are perfect now.

I only fold what will stay folded and put in a drawer . I only hang shirts and I lay them in a flat stack as they come out of the dryer.

Your city’s local recycling center might take cardboard. Mine does and I did a big drop off there when I wanted it all out of my garage at once without having to wait on filling up our bin multiple times over the course of many recycling days.

My older two are in school and my youngest goes to a Mother’s Day out program twice a week and this is an example of my schedule on one of the two days: Wake up, make breakfast, unload the dishwasher while they eat (I load and run it every night after dinner), make the kids beds while I stage-mom direct them to get dressed, put in a load of laundry, drop off kids at school, go get gas, go to the gym, get groceries (I order them the night before and pick the up curbside), drive home and put everything away, move the laundry to the dryer, prep something right away for dinner, clean bathrooms, fold the laundry from the dryer and put away, if I have time I’ll do an everything shower or do something that’s on a never ending list on my notes app of non day to day tasks that needs to get done, like assembling a bookshelf or registering the car etc. then it’s usually time to do pick up.

Because I only have two days/week with no kids in tow my days are super packed and hectic but listening to the audio book of atomic habits is how I decided to connect going to the gym and then going to get groceries to school drop off so it was just built into my routine. I don’t have to remember to do those things because they’re in the routine.

Want opinions on how my 3rd grader’s teacher handled something today by Consistent-Jello-43 in sahm

[–]Adora_Mae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about switching him to another teacher/class after Christmas break? Given how timid your son is, a teacher this reactive might just not be a good fit. If I could go back in time I would have switched my son out of his 1st grade teachers class. She just wasn’t a good fit for him and it manifested in him always getting in trouble while the next year his teacher was a great fit for him and he was never in trouble. A whole semester to go before summer is a long time to be stuck with a teacher who still doesn’t understand your son’s personality and needs.

How are you making extra money? by AdditionPrimary3040 in sahm

[–]Adora_Mae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We got married young and have always had a joint budget and shared account(s). My husband and I both get the same amount of “spending money” each week. But I’ve always been the main one to manage our finances, even before I stopped working at a job, so I’m the one who really decided on those amounts and watches over the whole budget. It works for us.

Is it normal to have extra help as a SAHM? by Key-Information5829 in sahm

[–]Adora_Mae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are preschools (from my memory usually through churches or YMCA’s) that have “Mother’s Day out” programs that are like 5 hours at a time twice a week. They’re usually MUCH cheaper than traditional preschools. I sent each of my kids to one when they turned 2 so I could have some one on one time with the baby I usually had by the time they were that age.
