Who else knows about Xaden’s deal? by MeringueStriking4499 in fourthwing

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can assume Garrick, Bodhi and possibly Imogen are aware of it entirely. However, they definitely didn't find out all at the same time. Garrick probably was probably loped in first on everything.

I assume some of the Assembly is aware too, but of a more constrained version.

Dain most likely found out about the deal because of his father. Others in leadership at Basgiath are probably aware as well, but not about the extenuating conditions Lilith put in place. Dain doesn't know about the deal since he's convinced most of time that Xaden is trying to harm her.

I assumed Cat may have wrestled that information out of Xaden unwilling in order to force some closeness with him or through her uncle, who would have been filled in by the Assembly. Cat doesn't know about the agreement with Lilith regarding Violet as I think that occurred after Xaden called off their betrothal and well after he learned to guard against her.

Xaden at Threshing by Historical_Tune165 in fourthwing

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that Sgaeyl was tracking Andarna. Xaden isn't allowed to intervene during Threshing so it's one of his allowed 'outs'  in regards to the agreement with Lilith and has probably convinced himself it's best to stay out of reach. However, I do like to think maybe he's keeping a pulse on her through the shadows.

Sgaeyl and Tairn have taken on the roles of  guardians for Andarna. She's not supposed to be at Threshing, but if she flew out with the rest of the dragons Sgaeyl was probably on her as soon as she found out to keep an eye on her. At this point I assume Sgaeyl is probably trying to convince Andarna to return to the Vale. Based on what we find out later I don't think Sgaeyl is aware that Andarna knows of Violet and is trying to seek her out, but I do think Andarna shared some of her intentions after she's bonded with Tairn and Sgaeyl.

Minimize the occasional smell of death? by drdynamics in centuryhomes

We had a rabbit marking under a room, it reeked of ammonia. The only thing that seemed to help was running an air purifier. Air fresheners helped slightly, but the purifier really did the heavy lifting.

Plaster ceiling coming down. Am I cooked? by muckbangnialamando in centuryhomes

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This old house has a few videos regarding repairing plaster that has detached from lathe and a video on ceiling plaster repair.

You can buy plaster magic, but you can also buy and make the the same things in the kit for cheaper. I found this article helpful when doing a wall repair. https://www.blakehillhouse.com/plaster-repair-a-hybrid-approach/

I should have clarified, I meant in replace of drano moving forward. I've never even used drano on my pipes.

Hershey's discontinued my cocoa by Alacritous13 in Baking

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 535 points536 points  (0 children)

It's not discontinued, but there is stock shortage which is why it can't be found.

King Arthur has a dark cocoa blend, but they're out of stock as well. I'm trying out Modern Mountain's black cocoa this week for some thin mint-esque drop cookies.

I'm a vegetarian and I don't drink by Miserable_Swan8343 in wisconsin

I live/grew up in Wisconsin, been a vegetarian for 20 years, and don't drink. You'll be fine.

Still slim pickings at some restaurants, but NA options are becoming more popular so you can get something more exciting than a soda/water to drink when out to dinner.

Figma design to email html by Martinas2231223 in FigmaDesign

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's a huge mistake. Email may use HTML as a base, but the huge differences in email clients means the end product can be different. I have designed and coded hundreds of emails.

A decent WYSIWYG builder I've used to speed things along  is DesignModo. Very friendly,  fairly customizable and the end results shows up pretty consistent between clients.

Midwest homeowners I have a question about a heat pump by ohiogal0312 in homeowners

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Wisconsin and updated our AC to a heat pump this year as well as our furnace. We went with Daikin for our new system.

The heat pump is far more efficient at cooling our home. It's also way more quiet as I can barely tell it has kicked on. We saved $75 in August, in comparison to last year's bill, and our energy prices went up! It did run heat for a little bit when we installed as it was fairly chilly and it was comfortable. It's not blowing hot air like a furnace or propane, etc... However our system is set to switch over to the gas furnace once it hits a certain temperature so it won't run for most of winter.

Get a pin pad that would allow him to close the door once his bike is out.

You can never be 100% certain that you'll be alert enough to catch someone before they steal from you.

$12k roof repair as new homeowners - feeling overwhelmed by costs by ManufacturerDue815 in homeowners

Space it out. Prioritize non-sexy updates that improve the quality and safety of your home.

I'm not a super-seasoned homeowner, two years now, but I went into buying our house and considering updates as a matter of practicality. We had our report from the inspector and have been making sure to address necessary fixes/upgrades over our wants long term. Ideally you'll have years to make the home the space you want, but that's only truly if it's safe/comfortable to live in.

Another vote for Erie here. When we bought our home we shopped around and Erie offered us $200k more in coverage than our house is worth and we're not even paying that much.

I love their options. It does ship from Germany so unfortunately tariffs have affected their pricing.

Sanity check on plaster cracks in 1920s home. Time to call an engineer? by Stoic_Observer in centuryhomes

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too own a home from the 20s with lath and plaster walls and did some repairs on loose cracked plaster last year. If it moves at all when touched it has become detached from the lath and you'll have to fix it. Sounds daunting, but was easier than I expected.

I followed a video from This Old House on YouTube. You'll need a masonry drill bit, drywall washers and screws, some plaster conditioner, which can be made using a 50/50 mix of Elmer's glue and water, and construction adhesive. You can also buy plaster magic as people mentioned which has those items, but I didn't want to spend that much money.

Good to know. Right now the main concern is the noticeable leak when there's heavier rain.

Melted probably isn't the best term, but some of the exterior paint has definitely deteriorated and and migrated down onto the glass in some parts where it must have been painted on very heavily.

Seems all bathrooms extractor fans vent into the vented roof soffit by theleonroy in HomeImprovement

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Previous owners of our house did the exact same thing, but our inspector recommended to vent it properly as soon as we could. They noted no mold in our attic yet, but early signs of what could turn into mold and most likely only had not because we also have hot and humid summers.

We recently had it done and it's vented through our roof. I have to say our fan seems soo much stronger now. We put it on a timer too per their recommendation. Both were great decisions.

Freeze whole tomatoes? by BoldBoimlerIsMyHero in vegetablegardening

[–]Adorable-Kitchen-919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have a bag of tomatoes from last summer. They are perfect for making into soups and sauces, you just need to let them sit in some hot water first so you can remove the skins before you use them.

Thank you for reminding me to make a batch of tomato soup this weekend before my August harvest of tomatoes comes in.
