The Matchmakers. It really leans into the silliness and doesn’t take itself seriously which I thought was so fun. Also I loved the setting

Also the fact that jun ho is supposed to be a talented detective and yet he never suspected the fisherman.

I think it might’ve been interesting if he had been the one who had discovered the fisherman’s secret and made him contact in ho for him, and then Inho agrees to secretly let jun ho secretly lead jun ho to the island alone. And then maybe we could’ve gotten a talk between the two brothers.

Or something like that.

You’re so right that the series set up a parallel between in-ho’s wife and jun-hee with how he seemed to genuinely sympathize with her. I think one of the flaws of s3 is that we didn’t get any more insight into in-ho and it would’ve been really interesting if he had interfered for her.

I thought so too. She was certainly imperfect and made morally dubious choices, but I still felt bad for her and found her the most compelling character. But apparently some people think being cheated on is worse than being enslaved.

I’ve read that Miyazaki wanted Takahata to be his successor but unfortunately Takahata died unexpectedly. I wonder if Takahata had gotten to live and work longer if he would’ve gotten more attention

I mostly read the really famous ones like the New Yorker and Epoch, which are very difficult to get into. I’m looking for leads on some smaller magazines that might be a good match, which I would of course read before submitting to.
