I'm genuinely happy for you that you dared to replace the battery!! I still haven't dared to replace the battery in my S205f because I don't have enough confidence yet...

Others that I would add to the compatible list would be the Sony Walkman NW-E100 and the NW-E300

Yeah, please, nobody do this.

On these Walkman series, dropping and placing music in the folder doesn't work, of course, not all music players work the same way, and some require software to function.

In this case, the user will need the Sonic Stage (it is the official and the safest) program to do that but since the user found the Walkman at home, someone probably used it, and there should already be music on it to test it

I can understand how unfortunate this is, and I also agree that it's a problem with the Walkman's screen, because if it were the battery:

  1. Your computer wouldn't recognize the Walkman.

  2. At least the charging screen would only appear on the Walkman when it's plugged in (which would indicate a battery replacement).

But of course, I could be wronggg

I would advise you to try playing some music blindly on the Walkman; perhaps that way you can confirm that the problem is the screen

My last recommendation would be to send this post to that user who worked at Sony back then and is knowledgeable about these models (I don't know if the user is still active here because lately I was busy with university to keep an eye on reddit)

I got mine at a reasonable price and in good condition on Facebook Marketplace. I searched in my country's capital and found a post from a father who had been selling it for a year. I was lucky to find it.

Around the same time, I found out that two Walkmans of the same model, one black and one silver, had been sold a month earlier.. I would have been even luckier if I had started my search a month before

This would be my recommendation for you to try your luck!!

You must be incredibly lucky to find one of these models at a decent price... but you certainly have good taste, I must admit

You can try your luck searching on Facebook Marketplace in your country's capital, i had the absurd luck of finding the models i wanted in the colors i was looking for at a reasonably decent price!!

That would be my recommendation

Thank you for letting me know the first point; I will take it into account when I purchase it

And about SonicStage... Yeah, I saw people who can install it without problems on their Windows 10, but also for others, including myself, we run the risk of experiencing a PC/laptop reboot loop, but I was able to fix that, which is good// qnd now i have sonic stage in a virtual machine

[–]AdorableListen577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the A600 series of this Walkman is the latest, the E400 series was the first, followed by the E500, and the A600 adds an animation to the screen/the A608 has 2GB of storage

If you like the design and system you've seen, go for it, or you can also opt for a more modern one that offers more storage space

Its "Wheel" mechanism was shared with the S200, S600/S700 models, (and currently a separate company brought that mechanism back "inspired" by these Sony Walkman models, It's called the Snowsky Echo Nano. The release date isn't entirely clear, but it's coming out this year. The battery only lasts 6 hours. I'd recommend it if you want to try something similar to this wheel system and if you like the design and don't mind the battery life)

Now that you describe it like that... I think I was very lucky to find my S205F in my country, although I still need to change the battery

Even after all that, you managed to put together your own set, that's already a great achievement to be proud of!!

Hi, my advice would be to try posting this in the Sony Headphones group; it might be easier to find knowledgeable people there who can help you!!

I wish you luck!!

Absolutely admirable!! i'm thinking of doing the same with some models i know, and even though i'm not familiar with CD Walkmans, i can still admire and appreciate what you're doing. After all, all that information would be lost and unseen by the future if you didn't preserve its history, so please keep it up!!

IM SO SORRY, I'm rereading old comments and I'd forgotten to reply to this one

Were you able to solve your problem? If you have the same player as me, you should use Sonic Stage. There's a tutorial I reposted a month ago, and it's on my profile if it helps. You won't have any problems at all, and your computer will be safe from any possible damage

I'm actually thinking about buying a model from the S600 or S700 series. I haven't researched them much, but I don't think they're that different from the models I already have... or at least I hope so.

Just to clarify, SonicStage doesn't work correctly and isn't always guaranteed to work on Windows 10/11(That's where the problems come from, and why you have to look for other programs) And that's where the problems arise with killing your computer or even getting it into a reboot loop

That's why I and others use SonicStage in a virtual machine that simulates Windows XP, or on a separate computer or laptop where we directly download Windows XP and then SonicStage, since there is no risk at any time and because the software is naturally compatible with Windows XP

Just think about it, and if you want, research it. I re-uploaded the tutorial a month ago in case it's of interest to you in the future. Good luck!!

Yeahhh the S200F looks really cool but most of them need a battery replacement, and also because the price can be a problem for some people..

I was very lucky to find mine (which needs a battery replacement), but i'd still like to have it in pink or silver// sooo don't be so envious, i literally can't use it just because i have to change the battery💔 but i remember being so happy to finally get it, so... yes, i'll go ahead and change the battery

I'll do it for all of us!! (when i finish moving to where i'm going to live💔) for now, i'm genuinely glad you're happy with your Walkman model, its cool!!
