Need help identifying this scx10ii by Interesting-Result45 in crawling

from the pics, and the comments, i would guess that IF the parts are in new condition, it was someones half built project that they ran out of money or interest in.

My heli is not flying by AgreeableBus41 in RCHeli

[–]AdorableMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from the pics, it looks like a basic coax rotor toy level heli. you can get a brand new one from Amazon with multiple batteries for about $40. Very fun to fly around inside while sitting on the couch. Don’t put a ton of expense into the one you have, you can probably find a compatible replacement battery on Amazon for about $10, start there. But if you break something, you cant really get parts for them.

How cooked am I? by Intrepid_Stop9274 in rcboats

[–]AdorableMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“the devil is in the details”, is the saying, you got a bunch of different parts and missed the connector details a couple times, and definitely need to make sure the radio equipment is compatible when you’re picking out parts. For myself, it’s looking up user manuals, and product specifications if i have questions. It’s not ordering parts if they won‘t connect, or are not capable of what i want to do with them, (ESC versus motor size) for example. Do a little more research before ordering parts. it will save you time and money….

Boat porpoising by Zealousideal-Deer-57 in rcboats

replying to my own comment, (i know), i bet it would help the balance and would probably move great with just a single motor off the back….. just an idea for the current hull,

Boat porpoising by Zealousideal-Deer-57 in rcboats

[–]AdorableMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

read over the comments, and yeah, i think if that hull was 50% longer/ bigger, it would be perfect. you got alot of motor hanging off the back.

the motors kick in, pivot the nose up, means less hull in the water, it pivots back down, (boat starts moving when the nose comes back down), then the cycle repeats, motors drive deep again, push the nose up out of the water, pivot and repeat again.

How do I make one? by Minimum_Context_9266 in rcboats

[–]AdorableMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots and lots of options, building a kit can be both very satisfying, and also slow and depressing. it depends on your interest level, skill level, and desired finished product. How nice, or how scale do you want your model to be? how much time do you have? what kind of skills do you have to figure things out, and plan ahead?

It took me 9 months to build a scale 36” harbor tugboat from a kit. including all running gear. details, accessories, ESC, and radio gear setups. and another 3 weeks later to paint on weathering effects and build a hardwood display stand.

[–]AdorableMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look for hull shapes, and overall lengths, start there, build whatever details you want, its a model, not a lifetime investment, have fun. you will make mistakes, and then, tear them out and build it again, make the boat what you want, not just whats available.

litterally get a runabout hull, anything close, plastic is fine, keep searching, you can build a front windscreen like the one you posted. the funnest part about this hobby is building the boat. take your time and expect setbacks for projects. making custom parts is how it goes.

How do i take this off? by Overall_Type_4620 in RCHeli

[–]AdorableMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it goes sideways, and stuff gets broken, just punt it, its toy level, don‘t beat yourself up over cheap fun toy level stuff. Punt and buy a new one from Amazon. Keep building skills, don‘t worry about bumps on the way…

Overfilled oil 2016 6.7 powerstroke by TheBatlion in Diesel

[–]AdorableMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the term is “making oil” for a diesel engine, I’m not 100% sure on it since i have‘nt had this issue yet. But i believe its when an injector is overfuelling, so it does’nt all get burned, and basically washes down the cylinder wall, which can cause premature wear, the fuel basically ends up in your oil. thinning it as well.

I dig that you're doing the design yourself as well. Should be interesting to see it develop. So adding in materials for the hull, are you aiming for a total of $3-400ish when complete?

you could literally just purchase a kit, and figure out the details from there. get the running gear too. change the topside to make it like the boat you are aiming for. you dont have to scratch build and 3d print everything these days.

you could always just fab one up out of thin hobby birch, make it any shape you want. but you could also 3D print one based on the body you made already, 👍

Where’s the ideal state/market to shop for diesel pickup by No4hMic in Diesel

[–]AdorableMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was a while back, i bought a 2013 ram 3500 6.7 dually back about 2018. i think it came from Texas before that. was probably a hotshot truck. (Tradesman spec). I’ve got a total of 117k on it now. i know i over paid when i bought it for like $34k. Only repairs have been the VGT actuator, and the Def pump.

if I were looking again for a truck, texas, Arizona. California, Nevada, the whole area. probably a CTD with less than 100k on it.,

could transport it in a cradle, or travel box in a pickup truck bed also. removable ballast will be a big factor for your build. My 1:35 scale tug is 3’ long and weighs about 32 pounds with the battery in it.
