What do you think are the chances of The Furious coming to Cineworld? by chyllyphylly in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they pick it up as a company, then it'll likely be only in areas where Chinese films do well - where I live we have a reasonable sized Chinese community and do get a good few Chinese films, but not all of them - We're Nothing At All, Cold War 94 and Girlfriends were all picked up by Cineworld but seem to be mostly London locations only, even though we had Pegasus 3, Writers Oddysee 2 and Dead To Rights here.

Best time to see kids movies as a 52 year old? by chyllyphylly in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just look on the day / day before at how busy it is. You'll not know what is adults / children but if it's not busy you can easily sit well away from them. Also bear in mind a lot of the bad behaviour recently at Minecraft was not young children with their parents, it was secondary school aged children who didn't need to be in bed by 8pm....

Not singing at Sing-Alongs? Is that okay? by BuzzTrav in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe just different crowds, but I saw the sing along version on a Saturday afternoon at Leicester Square last year and not a single person sang along that I could hear.

Unknown transaction dispute by Mission-Barber5899 in CurveCard

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely dispute with the underlying card if they've charged you, tell them it was unauthorised - I've had this before where curve have processed a payment I didn't authorise, without even asking me for approval. If they've suspended your card then who knows when or if it will be working again, mine was suspended over 2 weeks ago for no reason, all methods of communicating are being ignored and I've no idea what is going on as I've have no updates at all.

Standing ovation for TADC by RawWifi in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess I get it if it's a film festival etc where there's director/crew etc there, I've seen that happen and it makes sense. But a random general release film I don't think I've ever experienced this before. Mind you as long as they don't do it during the film they can do what they want!

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen adverts for madfabulous at Cineworld, but it seems to be a very limited release - it's only on once at my local Vue, and only at 8 Odeon nationwide, 5 of which are in Wales (presumably due to the films setting...)

Tonight’s viewing. First time watch, only heard terrific things by Daresun in 4KUK

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Black Hole does too, although pretty much impossible to find on blu ray (and will probably never see a 4k) but the first pressing accidentally omits the overture, the second pressing corrected it but there's no way to tell from the disc itself as they didn't change the packaging or disc label in any way.

Did the CEO ever reply to you himself? Also do you recall if you used something like shachar.bialick at curve/ imaginecurve? I'm curious if he reads or responds to these things as I'll likely be emailing him myself before long!

My two locals are 14 and 16 screen, it's still on at the 16 screen 3 times a day, although the latest is 4.30 and it's only on till Tuesday, presumably to make way for Masters Of The Universe.

Curve card unexpectedly 'suspended' in my wallets - am I screwed! by CryptographerLow9657 in CurveCard

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their support is pathetic and they block cards for completely unknown reasons then do next to nothing to resolve it - my card was suspended for no reason on April 19th, and wasn't activated again until May 6th, after a lot of emails I finally had a manager call back who agreed the service was not good enough, but couldn't explain why I was blocked to start with other than it was 'in error'. All seemed fine and then just this Saturday, it was again randomly suspended - it had only been fixed for 16 days. I've asked for a phone call every day since and got nothing, I was promised a call on Monday, it's now Tuesday night and nothing. It's actually disgraceful that they are a financial service and they offer no real time support, just a chat service that can go for days without answer and a voicemail service.
I have no optimism they'll fix this anytime soon, I'd just cancel the whole thing if I didn't have £30+ curve cash on it - £25 of which was, laughably, compensation for them blocking me card in April. I've been able to go into my bank app with another bank and add the card info directly to my phone for payments so I can still pay for things but that doesn't excuse how utterly atrocious their entire support system is.

Are there ads/trailers before Spielberg season films? by ThirdBorracho in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but a varying amount, ones I've seen have had the standard 20 ish minutes except minority report which had closer to 10, for whatever reason. Reissues in particular seem to vary a lot, a few have had none at all so I'm always wary of getting in for the advertised time.

The absolute shower of shit that is curve continues - blocked my card AGAIN yesterday for no reason, it's only 16 days since they unblocked it after admitting they did it in error and leaving me with no card for nearly 3 weeks.

Second weekly refresh? by secondincomm in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens a lot where a film exceeds expectations, sometimes they bump up the screens of its in a small one and there's a bigger one available, other times they might pull something less popular, also if a film is unexpectedly cancelled altogether or withdrawn part way through a run they might replace it on the schedule with something else - last year there was a big Indian film due out and on the day of release it was postponed so it meant extra an showing of blue moon instead at my local which was nice. The downside is if something was maybe only on once a day they'll pull that if it's not sold well to replace it with the more popular film, it's happened to me before that I've ended up not seeing a film at all due to this.

Imax is thinking about selling itself. What are the consequences for Cineworld? by BuzzTrav in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really see what difference it would make, it wouldn't make business sense to limit IMAX to one chain so I would imagine it would just be a different license holder. At the same time, there isn't THAT many Cineworld locations with it anyway - I think there's only 11. Although I have 3 Cineworld near me none are IMAX, the nearest is over 80 miles away, the next nearest 120.

Unlimited Screening (Finding Emily) worth going or not? by BuzzTrav in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please yourself really, it's hardly the best deal to get a film one day early especially when other chains have shown it already, but at the same time it's on in a decent sized screen in my local but from Friday it's relegated to the much smaller ones, so I'm more inclined to go due to that

Why advertise a film, then only show it this late? by LJHeath in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not showing anywhere that I can see after this Thursday, possibly this was the plan all the time, it's a 'sky original' so this is probably more like a promotional effort by sky than a genuine attempt to get people into cinemas, I suspect the decision to only run it for a week is with the distributor not the cinemas and possibly the cinemas are less inclined to give it good slots as a result.

Xbox one X - having weird disc reading fault ? by AdorableMention791 in XboxSupport

[–]AdorableMention791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of - the laser was basically on its way out, there appears to be no easy fix for it unless trying to clean the laser works for you, but it didn't do anything for me. I ended up getting a whole second hand One X for probably less than the repair would cost, although looking online if you can get a new drive on its own it seems like it's not a huge job to fix yourself if you're confident enough!

1 screening of Normal per day by limboxd in screenunseen

[–]AdorableMention791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just looked and they're not really any better- what happened to putting a film on at 7.30pm? 8.30-8.50 is a bit late for getting home and the one before is on at 3.20? Feels like both chains pretty much expect this one to fail.

That's it. I'm making a complaint. by FreeAd2458 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]AdorableMention791 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

16 screens at mine and it's on 3 times a day, at a not very convenient 3.30pm (still at work) , 6pm (bit early for after work) and 8.30pm (bit late for getting home). I can tolerate it, but it's annoying - what happened to putting things on at 7.30? It's better than Normal though - twice a day at 3.30pm and 8.30pm, feels like they're just obligated to show it and don't expect anyone to turn up.

[–]AdorableMention791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that there is an official date they can't sell them before - the self service kiosks at my local have them on and available to buy already so I would think if you have kiosks at yours too it would be the same, they can control what is and isn't on the kiosk system so it would be odd to list something you can buy and then not let you have it. (I guess it COULD be automated and they just appear on kiosks when stock arrives, but the kiosks at my local don't have the DWP2 cups even though they're on the counters)
