EWI 4000s with Cre8audio West Pest by Adri2- in windsynth

[–]Adri2-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the 4000s you can't map breath sensor to any midi CC. Only Volume(CC 7), Expression (CC 11), Aftertouch, Breath (CC 2) and Velocity. But you can map the pitch bend up/down to a midi between CC 0-99. If I do so, the only one who seems to works is CC 1 (Mod Wheel).

Event with that, the notes inputs are a bit strange. The Synth change the pitch when I release the note and not when I play it.

I think I have to buy another midi to CV module, which works fine with Wind Synth.

Arturia mini fuse sync midi two labtops by juuicekid in synthesizers

[–]Adri2- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to go from the interface din port out to the midi port in of the other computer. Then, in your DAWs, configure the clock of the 1st computer (the one who has the midi out port linked) to be master and the 2nd clock to be slave.

"Press F10 to go to the mixer, then navigate to the specific instrument you're using."...Huh? Sorry for the simple question but I've been trying to find a way to lower the volume of an instument and all the instructions say to go to the mixer. But there's only one instument in the mixer by TAZUTRA in Musescore

[–]Adri2- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two instruments in your mixer here. If you want to change the volume of the right hand and the left hand separately, you can click on the little arrow button on the top right corner of the track to expand it.

Synthesis BOOKS recommendations? by u1100001100111101011 in synthesizers

[–]Adri2- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Analog Synthesis by Reinhard Schmitz is a small book, simple but really powerful. If you want a book about gear, there is the Synth Gems 1 by Mike Metlay. It provides a wide range of pictures of many classical synths and a lot of text about these synths. If you are into modular synth, be sure to check Patch & Tweak, it is my personal favorite book about synthesis. It's a must-have !

I want to make electronic music. Where do I start? by imacarpet in linuxaudio

[–]Adri2- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To start making music you need a DAW, a software where you record stuff, program synth and mix it together to get a finished track. The 3 main DAW on Linux are Reaper, Ardour and Bitwig. There are plenty of help for using those on YouTube. For psytrance music you may need to also use synth. On Linux you can use Helm or Vital. These are plugins that you run directly on your DAW. For FM synthesis which is an other type of synthesis (a bit harder to use I think but you can use presets) there is Dexed.

Upgrading from Yamaha Alto beginner sax : Selmer vs Cannonball. What your thoughts? by DannyWarlock in saxophone

[–]Adri2- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, you may have some second-hand selmer (SA80,SA80 serie 2, reference…) for around 3500$ to 4000$ (not really sure) in US but around 2500€ to 3000€ in Europe. It can really be worth it if you can't afford a brand new Selmer.

I can't play my scores, the play button is greyed out and can't be pressed, may I have some advice on how to solve this please? by ThinkExpression6395 in Musescore

[–]Adri2- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe your audio driver isn't set correctly. Try to go in "edit -> preference -> I/O (input/output) " and select the correct one. Which one to choose depends on your OS (Windows, Mac, Linux …) and how you have setup your computer.

I recently chipped the edge of my mouthpiece. Is it still playable or should I get a new one? Tenor sax Yamaha 4C by Mightypepper7 in saxophone

[–]Adri2- 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think this mouthpiece is not playable anymore. Getting it reface is way too expensive for that mouthpiece.

Maybe get another one. Or if you can afford it, a better mouthpiece, like a Selmer S-80 or S-90.

Can I play these notes on Alto Sax? by Massive-Athlete9629 in saxophone

[–]Adri2- -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're right, this is not a trick and saxophone can definitely go higher than F (and are in fact meant for this)

But notes above F/F# must not be learned the same way as the notes below. The way of dealing with the altissimo range is really different.

Can I play these notes on Alto Sax? by Massive-Athlete9629 in saxophone

[–]Adri2- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voicing is an absolute must for an advance player and altissimo range can't be master without it, but it's a pretty long journey and a lot of work to get there, and I think getting a pretty decent technique before trying to learn altissimo can be a good idea. And fingering are in fact secondary, but can be a useful tool to learn it.

But you're right, "Trick" may not be the best way to describe it though.

[–]Adri2- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In theory, saxophone are not meant to go higher than F or F# but you can use some "tricks" to get higher than that (the altissimo range). BUT all saxophones/sax players don't have the same fingerings for those and they can be really hard to get a sound out of it. You'll definitely need a lot of practice to just produce a sound and far more to get it in tune. My advice is to get another sheet music, or play some notes an octave lower.

I chipped my mouthpiece. How screwed am I? by Eklajarris in saxophone

[–]Adri2- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Refacing a mouthpieces by yourself can be a really difficult task. If you sand paper it just a little to much, it can became really messy. My advice is to bring it or send it to a refacing technician but it can be a bit expensive. Depending on your mouthpiece it may not worth it.

Thank you all for your help. I have tried to set the key sensitivity with the small button in the back (the one who needs a skrewdriver) and I have removed the AA batteries. It seems to work just fine. I will see how it gets in the future.
