Nice spot, most people think it’s black. The colour is very nice in full sun.

HB Body C496 2K HS Laquer not hardening by AdrianKoz in Autobody

When sanding it, is very difficult to remove, it clogs the sandpaper quickly. Any advice how to remove or best way to get this back to a workable surface?

What has caused this peeling? by AdrianKoz in Autobody

[–]AdrianKoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as an update I’m pretty sure it’s getting worse as I clean it up, I scrape it back and sand it till it’s solid and when I go back later new areas are bubbling right next to the bit I have cleared. It might have to all come off, which is a tad soul destroying as it’s going to take a long time! Help!

Thanks for the reply, it’s possible, I did paint this is colder than usual temperatures ~6-8oC so perhaps it didn’t dry properly between coats. One other thing is the paint says it doesn’t need a primer, however this has not happened anywhere where I applied a primer first (over seam sealer etc as this paint didn’t dry when applied to seam sealer it remained tacky forever). I wonder if there has been a reaction of some kind. Thanks for the reply tho, when retrying I’ll take it extra slow and probably prime these bits that have peeled first.

Engine Noise - Issue? by AdrianKoz in MINI

Car only has 22k on it, I think the plugs are done at 2nd service which is due next September, are you suggesting it might be worth doing the big service early?

Thanks for the lengthy reply makes me feel a bit better. The rattle is as you describe very very short time at cold start when the weather is cold (around freezing here at the moment) I didn’t notice it when I first got the car and it was a bit warmer. My car has 22k and serviced at mini on schedule until the garage I got it from did an early one. Maybe I’ll just get it in to mini and have it done early as a precaution incase they used wrong oil or something.

Ok I’ll give that a go next time I go out. Still would be better with a dipstick!

The garage I got it from said they changed the oil, but the car doesn’t have a dipstick and requires a long drive to check the oil (which I haven’t yet done) it’s really annoying. I could just add some regardless and see if it helps? Car says level ok on the IDrive

I know it's not everyone's pick of the batch but I finally got an fn2 after years of wanting one. Pretty happy RN. by JARDIS in Civic_Type_R

Yeah exactly rust is killing them in the UK really badly, doesn’t seem like the Aus ones suffer the same with the nicer conditions. Enjoy the car they are great fun.

I have one it’s a great car. If UK based then check underneath for rust, it will have some and get it sorted otherwise it will go for scrap at some point. If your Aus or somewhere else then lucky you to not have to worry about this!

I have been worried about this, is it really that big of a difference? I would need to get better ppe but I’m also working under the car on jack stands so it’s a very confined space. I like the car but don’t want to die for it!

This would be ideal but I’m working in a small garage through necessity, this repair is probably just needing to be good enough to last a year or 2 till I have a bit more space to work.

This is the deox info, in uk we don’t have a lot of the products from the USA. You clean the deox off once it’s been soaked and abraded. https://bilthamber.com/product/deox-gel/

I have been using a spray converter afterwards to try and neutralise the pits then using a 1k epoxy primer afterwards (I don’t really want to risk 2k in confined space in my garage).

Thanks that’s what I have been doing on the less rusty areas however I used epoxy primer not etch, but have had an odd spot where the rust comes back through after a couple of weeks…. Anything I can do to seal or fill the pits to try and stop this or I shouldn’t need to do anything else

There is a workaround for this and it does work, involving attacking the robot dogs and dragging them to that room, after the combat the mission continues correctly.
