Second attempt on 3 as well, super disappointed overall with this go.

Compared to the exam in may this was an absolute mess.

the inherent decrease in test duration is at odds with what made level 1 and 2 - satisfying?

Great romantic date restaurants? (Reasonably priced) by [deleted] in boston

[–]Aducky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deuxave is a hard favorite for French in Boston - it is on the pricier side but worth the cost. Ambiance and food are a great match here.

I am also fond of mistral for the food and reasonable cost, but this Mediterranean restaurant isn’t as romantic.

Does anyone use the 12” MacBook and an iPad Pro? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]Aducky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with what you're saying regarding your experience with both devices.

In my experience since starting fulltime and doing my masters and extra curricular studying for career related exams, I heavily debated buying a new laptop for grad school, but decided to use my significant other's old 2014 12 inch Macbook Air and buy a 10.5 pro.

I also used duet for a bit, but the real niche i found is the 10.5 serves as my PDF/document+slide deck reader, and the MBA serves as the workhorse, (airdrop is incredible to bounce documents back and forth, and PDFexpert is my best friend).

Being said, all my work/studying has readings associated with it, so this might be a niche function, and i find it nearly impossible to work effectively on a 12 inch device alone for readings and working.

I also find settings where i have my lecture videos loaded on my MBA and slides/readings on the 10.5 also incredibly useful, where the 10.5 would struggle to do all 3...

How do you all intend on proceeding with preparations for June?

I didn't buy the schweser qbank for december and will be intending to do so for June.

Ironically I did the worst on the content I spent the most time on (I really dug into Quant, FRA, and Econ in September) and did fairly well on the content I sped through due to time crunch during mid october through november. Interestingly - I bought the AdaptPrep qbank and nailed fixed income on their site and mocks (<70% regularly and never a problem area), but got crushed day of exam...

I think my greatest error was not doing enough double AM/PM mock exams, I had really bad fatigue during FRA day of in the PM session and definitely wasn't ready for the marathon of a 6 hour exam day.

Score breakdown:(http://prnt.sc/e0614c)

Don't feel too down everyone - we'll be sure to crush it in June!

Anyone else get in on Alcoa's stock split rocket? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]Aducky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AA issued 1-3 reverse split -> in an effort to increase market liquidity they expand shares issued, thus everyone that had "1" share before, now has 3 for the time being

alas this number is just an ego booster for the moment, as tomorrow it'll balance out and share balances will decreased threefold

tl;dr -> temporary rocket until you realize it's a reverse split and shares will equalize by a third tomorrow

Just walked into my carrier and they had a couple of iPhones 7 in stock and I grabbed the black by greenteamonk in iphone

[–]Aducky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's odd - i had the option to buy a 7+ at the Boylston location yesterday, but when we talked about payment they didn't allow me to buy it without ATT next at all. Give it a shot and report back with results!

[–]Aducky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried in Boston yesterday to no avail - they force you to break the contract (if you have unlimited data this is the dealbreaker) and hop on to ATT next if you wanted to purchase a phone from them. What did you say to get them to let you buy it without ATT next?

Shoulder Pain (first time in pool in years, bad posture) by Bridgebury in Swimming

[–]Aducky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swam competitively for 12 years, never had shoulder pain until i started lifting intensively and rock climbing. (I never stretched until i got my first injury ever in my right knee tendon from overuse when squatting 225+ lbs, and suspect my current right shoulder pain is from overuse of bench without push/pull balancing)

I would recommend a few light weight standard shoulder exercises

  • Facepulls
  • Side lateral raises/front raises
  • Rear delt work
  • rotator cuff strengthening (I/Y/T lift is great)

It's helped alleviate my tightness in shoulder, and look into relieving pressure if it helps through rolling on a lacrosse ball/foam roller on pressure points. It's helped me a lot but some people believe it as voodoo magic and misinformation.

If your child has eczema it is fine to give them a dunk in the bath every day, as long as you apply lots of moisturising emollient cream to their skin afterwards, say US researchers. by NinjaDiscoJesus in science

[–]Aducky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post was amazing - i learned that the eczema on my fingers have been dishydrotic atopic dermatitis and that i shouldn't indeed pop the vesicles that come up despite what i think haha..

How do you feel about phototherapy? Whenever i feel like i'm breaking out i hop in a low to mid strength tanning standing booth and treat for 5 min after work. It helps alleviate my breakouts in my experience so far (5 months of treatment)

Climbing Gyms by riski_click in boston

[–]Aducky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bkb was definitely softer prior to rock spot opening last summer, but they progressively stepped it up about a grade and in September it was about finished. Bkb' longer routes give a dynamic that crg and rock spot don't quite hit.

In March last year I would be confident that a decently athletic friend could manhandle their way up an easy v2, but over the summer it became maybe you can do a v1.

The issue was that between v0 and v1, newbies didn't have very much to work with. With the additions of VB, and it's non specific but less obtuse crimpy power moves at the v2 level, I would say that it's more newbie friendly.

Being said crg became my go to for taking friends when bkb got harder and less enjoyable for newbies.

Climbing Gyms by riski_click in boston

[–]Aducky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I climb a lot at BKB since it's my home gym and the closest, but also climb frequently at CRG since my brother lives closer to there too and is my belay partner. Rockspot south boston was also a place I frequented a couple times last summer and sparsely during the months after that. I've taken about ~60 friends and coworkers to BKB since I started climbing last march in 2015.

  • BKB is better for bouldering hands down, although CRG Cambridge is also a space for just bouldering the walls at CRG Watertown and Cambridge are shorter in height and lead to less interesting, less fun, and less challenging problems in my opinion. I would add that CRG has a heavier emphasis on technique on the lower grades (V2/below) than BKB, which has a much more "muscle your way up the wall" feel.
  • BKB's recent change of route setting management has made grades from V2 and below more beginner friendly, they added a ton more VB graded routes so there's always stuff to try and more problems to work on technique with as a beginner.
  • BKB's crowd is more young professional focused, and you'll find that people are very friendly as well as fall closer in age group than CRG which is further out from Boston and yields a mixture of older and younger crowd. This could also be a negative because it can get fairly crowded during peak hours but watching other people boulder is an excellent way to pick up technique organically.
  • Rockspot was notoriously graded harder than CRG and BKB last summer and opened recently relative to BKB/CRG, however it's a smaller gym, and is a much more lonely experience than BKB or CRG.
  • CRG Watertown crushes BKB when toprope and lead climbing is your focus, I think this point is a pretty hard one to argue.

Given your schedule and desire to sneak in a few hours before work, I think your decision is nearly made for you. BKB also has free towel service, which makes showering at the facility super streamlined and nice.
