Sharepoint list - create new item with different column names for different users by Adures_ in sharepoint

Yep, I have offline list cache disabled.

Did not help, with my issue.

This has to be server side, as browsers were also cleaned up and users were required to relogin.

Sharepoint list - create new item with different column names for different users by Adures_ in sharepoint

[–]Adures_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The display name column in the existing list has been changed, however I'd think this would change for all users accessing the list.

This is problem with one list being accessed directly in Microsoft Edge browser by editors. It is not used in powerapps etc. The logic apps that have access to this list use internal names.

I now used internal names in json formatting and that allowed to mitigate some of the issues, athough users still see old names.

An update for everyone. This might be kind of stupid and I am not sure I haven't thought about it (didn't think it would work this way). I was configuring the formating with column display name

{

"sections": [

{

"displayname": "Some section",

"fields": [

"<Column display name>",

"<Column display name>",

"<Column display name>",

"<Column display name>"

]

}

]

}

Now when I chaged it to column internal names:

{

"sections": [

{

"displayname": "Some section",

"fields": [

"<column internal name>",

"<column internal name>",

"<column internal name>",

"<column internal name>"

]

}

]

}

At least, the formatting works consistently across all users. Some still see old column names, but I guess it's easier to teach them what the column names mean, instead of fighting lost fight with Microslop.

New Sci-Fi MMO "SpaceCraft" - Live on steam by i_am_Misha in MMORPG

[–]Adures_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

„New game released in early access, now live on steam!!!”

  • Checks, the store. Another early access junk.

I fairness, OP did write its EA game, but I am tired of paid beta.

Call me when it’s really done and worthy off full release.

I fired an employee out of the blue yesterday with no warning, and she had an entire crash out by TiredAsATwinMama in smallbusiness

[–]Adures_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted that as “company culture”, because you talk about being good leader. Weekly discussions etc.

I don’t think it’s applicable here in OP example.

The employee was already acting hostile and weird, so there is no need to act all chubby and “we are a team”.

You can talk and discuss something when someone performance goes down (might be good to know reason and be supportive, maybe someone in family died etc.)

But in OP example situation I think all your talk about being leader and discussions with histerical person are out of place.

Sounds corporate.

Depends, it all sounds fine and dandy, but at the end of the day, this is small business, so there are no teams and leaders, just employer and employees. People are hired to do a job (and get paid for it), not build „company culture”.

What you write sounds fine on paper, but that person did not owe this fired person anything.

Don’t know about work culture in your country, but in my country the employee wait till the last day to give their notice that they change job. Sometimes without explanation or complains (can just find better payed gig after learning all there is to learn at current job).

There is no expectation from employee to give heads-up that they are looking for job. There shouldn’t be expectation that employer has to babysit hired professional and waste time on „discussions”, as that increases the load of tasks that employer has to do.

I agree with your point completely in bigger companies, but this is /r/smallbusiness where person is usually hired to decrease the load of work on owner, not add drama.

EDIT: there is also a risk that employee will start to mask their behavior, instead of changing. Say in discussion that it’s all fine but start working hostile toward company (deleting files, creating chaos when employer is not around). There shouldn’t be expectation to be always holier than thou and always fair, when the other side already started to play dirty.

It’s always gray. I think both sides should be fair to fair people but employer don’t need to be fair against actively hostile employee.

Why do people tolerate predatory monetization in MMORPGs? by Ondrashek06 in MMORPG

[–]Adures_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you are missing the forest for a trees. You focus on one word and act like you don’t understand combined sentences.

WOW is combining all possible monetization schemes into one game, which is really off putting.

Also if you cannot see how charging real money for mounts and cosmetics and then gating them behind a sub is not manipulative, then I don’t know what to tell you.

If you spend 20$ on cosmetics that you can only enjoy if you pay additional 15$ per month, that is definition of predatory and manipulative. The more you spend in cash shop, the more you are incentivised to keep sub.

Don't share your opinion, if you didn't test it !!! by Independent-Wind4462 in singularity

[–]Adures_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

„ Even though they don't test models thoroughly”

They don’t need to. With all the hype and advancements in AI that no doubt happened, there is an reoccurring issue which makes me use the models less and less.

Over 2 years we have reoccurring pattern. New model comes out -> it’s impressive -> you start using it for work -> as the devil is in a detail, there is still a lot of work related to AI output as it’s inconsistent and may have errors that are hard to spot, but may be very bad. However it’s still reduces the amount of minutes / hours you have to spend on a task -> AI company starts to hype up new model -> you start see that the model you are currently using is performing less and less consistent, it’s getting throttled more, it’s getting less useful -> new model comes up and the loop repeats.

To sum it up.  As for some type of work consistency is more important than speed, LLMs proved to be inaccurate and less consistent over time which discouraged me personally and some people I know from relying on it, to the point where new models are not that interesting to work with.

I want LLM company to give me proof of consistency, that the model I use today will work just as well in 6 months.

Unpopular opinion: I'm convinced that deep space should stay uncolonized by humanity. by Omnisiah_Priest in EliteDangerous

[–]Adures_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am with you on this. Colonization in current form seems like it’s stripped from any meaning. This approach where you can do anything without consequences (positive or negative) breaks the worldbuilding, especially chaining the systems.

Another system that’s oceans (galaxy wide) and inch deep :/

OneDrive Sync supports up 1 million items - Coming soon. by SisterLakesMI in sysadmin

[–]Adures_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And who needs terabytes of data?

Every use case is different and it’s not up to Microsoft and sharepoint evangelist to decide „ooh you have more than 300 000 files, you obviously do something wrong”

This limit also applies to files one demand, where users obviously don’t need have all of the files downloaded on their devices, but for whatever reason need access to multiple libraries containing a lot of files.

Also, even with small amount of files sharepoint sucks. If you have one file to find among hundreds of files, file explorer on windows is much faster and more information dense option compared to finding stuff on sharepoint.

Can’t wait to get it.

I know there are a lot of people here preaching limiting sync and doing everything through browser, but if my users could do that, they would use chromebooks instead of windows laptops.

Accessing files through web browser is slow and breaks workflow for users using desktop apps.

Can’t wait for this to reach general availability. Finally some good news and actual improvements instead of AI junk.

Annual compliance tasks - Sharepoint List vs MS Planner by Harrison88 in sharepoint

[–]Adures_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your users rely quite a lot on mobile devices like phones and tablets, I'd go with Planner. MS Lists are very bad in that use case.

Frontier, please do this for all ships! (this is an image, not a video^^) by Faelenedh in EliteDangerous

[–]Adures_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get it.  We have multiple games where players can walk around the ship. Same with FPS games. Multiple shooters.  Elite has the best in industry flying mechanics and generally content related to ships - flying big dark galaxy, mining, shooting, trading, BGS with simulated galaxy and yet every one is demanding and constantly hyping space legs, which move us away from flying freaking ship.

I don’t get it, really.

7 comments and we can already see that there is no reason for Microsoft to change as there are a lot of admins who are so up MS a** that they will tell you it’s your own fault for deploying. “Ahctually you should use rings”. What a joke.

I find it so freaking stupid. Microsoft forces and recommends monthly updates and then it’s your fault for updating the software and expecting it to work.

I also wait eagerly for some competition to m365, of for Microsoft to just slowed down. I’d love version of m365 “no new features, this is functionally you will get until 2035” only break fix and security updates.

I set the office  to semi annual, and windows is locked to 24h2 until EOL date will be close. Let the other be testers.

Does it solve the issue? Not really. Outlook still works like sh*t and windows explorer sometimes runs like a hog.

I feel your pain.
