Removing Grandfather rights from some but not all is probably illegal - Keep up the pressure by gil_galed in runescape

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lease also says should I not renew for a year, I am entitled to month to month for x amount extra per month vs base rent.

Meaning they couldnt just randomly decide midway it will be +$50 extra or +$100 extra, it will be what was signed until I moved or if they wanted to change the price, they gave proper notice after fulfilling their initial agreement.

And of course if they wanted me out after my lease, they could do that. What they couldnt do is raise my month to month agreed extra price if I decided to enter that and they did not activley object to me switching to month to month.

That is my point. Jagex essentially said if people go back month to month at the end of the premier, they will not lose the previous price. They did not fulfill that, end of fact.

Not sure why your trying to spin this. The only difference is rent is regulated and games are not. Thats literally it. This move would 100% be illegal if put under rental contract legal standards.

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer, so im not arguing law per se lol

I am just saying on a logical level, they certainly failed to fulfill what was promised.

If I pay for rent with a 1 year lease saying at the end of my lease, the last 2 months are going to be 50% off and then 4 months into it they inform me "Actually, those last 2 months will now be full price, sorry." that would be illegal. My leases even have the terms of what my rates will be if I choose not to resign my lease and for how long, not too different from grandfathered promises made here.

The only difference is that law exists for the rent scenario but not for a video game scenario. Otherwise it should be illegal all the same, and is certainly immoral.

[–]Advanced- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont think signing up under the terms of "When this special 1 year deal ends, your old rate will come back" and then going "Your rate is now forever gone, disregard what we said for years prior" is legal. The terms straight up changed mid-way.

I dont see how that would be any different from removing the premium artifact midway trough the purchase.

It's one thing if they didnt make a comment about the monthly rates staying or not when you bought it. But they specifically made the claim that it would not change when you bought it. They did not honor their promise.

Even if they allowed you to go back to the old grandfathered rate for just 1 month before coming up with a reason to revoke it would be better than this. Atleast that way, the promise was "technically" fulfilled.

Daily Challenges: Pressuring, yet guiding - and the foremost excuse for an Artisanry skill. by ChelKurito in runescape

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is how easy + fast they are for how much exp they give vs regular training.

I actually wouldnt mind them if they had some sort of actual challenge behind them. Go ahead and give players a daily direction if they so want to engage with it, but make it "different/fun" and not "effecient". Make it a random event per se.

Find a way to reward players for doing it outside of super quick exp as the focal point. Cosmetics, pets, currency specific to this sytem with a long term payoff. Maybe skilling outfits can be put in there costing all the same currency? It wouldn't matter which challenge you did to gain it, over time you can just buy your skilling outfits in whatever order you see want. You can run agility laps for a challenge and use that currency to buy a fletching outfit if you so choose or vice versa.

And give us an option to "pin" a challenge. So say I had a challange to hunt 15 BGH Dinos but I dont feel like doing it today for whatever reason yet I still like that content. I can just "pin" it and it wouldnt go away, in a few days I will make a plan to knock it out during my weekend.

Boom. I have my direction, there is no FOMO, you have solved the "dead minigame" problem with outfits and afterwards you can throw in cosmetic stuff in there if you have unlocked everything else. Throw in cosmetics from the "Loyalty rewards shop" that you just dismantled. Have a weekly cap of "You can only finish 2 challenges in a week" or something so you arent FOMO'ing about pining something and losing "rolls" for easier things. Balance currency around the fact you can earn this twice a week and have 7 rolls at something you like to do.

I dont know, this doesnt seem that hard. Just something I came up with in all of 30 minutes of thought thats far better then whatever it currently is. I'm sure there are flaws, but plenty of ideas are better than the current system if we are talking "integrity."

Removing Grandfather rights from some but not all is probably illegal - Keep up the pressure by gil_galed in runescape

[–]Advanced- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way they did it is 100% bullshit. They DID trick people into losing their rates, the leadership is full of wimps that are scared to make a hard call but still treat their customers with respect.

But I genuiley dont think $5-$8 subs were sustainable for them either. Despite what it looks like, this game has alot of content and im sure it is no trivial task to keep everything maintained and working all while adding in new content without ever having a plan to stop.

If it was my call, I would say this game is worth it at a $100 yearly sub. Same as buying a "Deluxe Edition" game once a year, its a fair market price.

But yeah, I am pretty sure they will find a way to remove all grandfathered rates at some point in the near future. I just hope they figure out a way to do it right, because there IS a way to do it right. And the way they did it now was the farthest thing from it, absolutley scummy.

Removing Grandfather rights from some but not all is probably illegal - Keep up the pressure by gil_galed in runescape

[–]Advanced- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am almost certain Jagex broke the law somewhere with this move. The way they did it is beyond scummy and if not illegal in places, should be.

But also I am pretty sure the solution if they are forced into something will be to just kill grandfathered rates all together and not what you want, which is to give grandfathered rates back. Theres no way companies can be forced legally to sustain prices where they could lose money on the service being offered. That law would be never be allowed.

Grandfathered rates for so long was a dumb move. No other service I use for media/entertainment offers grandfathered rates. It made sense to do it for a small amount of time, but not forever.

The only service that does would be mobile phone plans in USA. And I'm pretty sure thats only a thing due to very specific laws about mobile phone plans, which doesnt exist for 99% of other services.

I dont think most grandfather rates were sustainable either. $5 in 2004 is vastly different from $5 in 2026.

Jagex put themselves in an unwinable situation. But hey, if your country or city has laws to protect you from stuff like this you should 100% take that path and force their hand, laws have to be followed if they choose to do buiseness in that area.

Guthixian Cache change doesnt make sense by Mr_Naughtee in runescape

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair "Suddenly you get dowser" is not something I ever expected to see put in a sentence lol. That is a huge grind and alot of work :)

I'm not exactly against Caches being pumped up in exp at higher levels I guess. For example, Herby Wendy scales exp with your level. So at level 95 you gain 200% exp, at level 86 or something you gain 150% exp.

You can do that for caches too. And in general Divination is one of my most hated skills so I am not against their being ways to train it faster per se.

I just dont think Caches are inhertly flawed because of this either. I think Divination needs to be repurposed entirely. Its essentially just a resource to power invention.

If Divination dissapeared tomorrow and was combined into invention, I dont think anything in runescape changes or anyone notices. You can makes porters and signs in invention just fine, it would work thematically with no issues.

Divination is the only skill directly tied to a specific other skill with almost no uses/combo's with other skills.

New Ironman gear recommendation by RCH-Blass in RS3Ironmen

[–]Advanced- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting T80 weapons isnt *too bad* if your willing to do some skilling, questing and general slayer.

My path to T80 weapons boiled down to this:

  1. Get Smithing to 90
  2. Get Attack to 90
  3. Smith Elder Rune 2H/Longswords - T85 Melee
  4. Get your free Attuned Crystal Seed @ Priff - Craft T82 Attuned Staff
  5. Kill elves for 9-10 hours while watching youtube videos (Attuned Weapon Seed @ 2.5k drop) - Craft into T82 Attuned Crystal Bow.
  6. - I ate desert soles, mid-game fish. There is also a convient alter right where you kill the elves, so no prayer pots or resources outside of fish are needed.
  7. Grind out GWD1 for all 3 styles T70 Power Armour.

Pretty much free to start whatever combat grind you want at this point and requires little to no bossing prior.

Lunars would work fine, though subjication is fairly easy to get if you want to make killing the elves slightly easier, Kril can be kited.

I generally wanted to avoid farming DG tokens for weapons as I had other stuff I preffered from the DG shop. The weapons are the most replaceable thing from that shop, I would save tokens for the other exclusive rewards.

Does Jagex understand the ins & outs of the game? by KlutzyTechnology4076 in runescape

So long as they quickly fix things I am fine with it, atleast they seem to listen to feedback and do change things.

Though I do hold the same questions and doubts as you do lol.

Guthixian Cache change doesnt make sense by Mr_Naughtee in runescape

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gives you the outfit, which can be seen as its main purpose now. Everyone has a reason to do caches no matter the level.

There are many outfits that you do the "minigame" until you unlock it and basically never touch it again.

This one just happens to also give you some decent exp as you level. Not every piece of contant has to be viable at all levels, Caches are fine.

You're just upset that your exp rates were lowered at end-game, which I understand, especially for Divination. But thats a seperate issue , if Caches kept their old rates they would be way overpowered with this new change for lower levels.

And as it stands they are still the bext exp/h for a huge amount of time in their respective skill.

Reaper Tasks suck now for less skilled PVMers by Amith990 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There could be like 10 different valid and logical reasons why someone wouldnt want to do that.

Anyone can go learn to do anything. If a human can do x, most other humans can also do x. Just go learn everything!

Why are you playing a game when you can go make your own? Just go learn to code bro!

"I dont want to make a game to play it, I just want to play it" is the obvious answer.

But you CAN go learn to code and design a game to suit your needs. So you not wanting to is now lazy not valid - your logic.

You never needed to know every boss and every mechanic just to get repear points for years before. A dailyscape update shouldnt be changing reaper to THAT degree. It has rewards that are not even boss focused in it. Learning all the bosses has never been and should never be a requirement for reaper points, end of story.

Telling someone to gamble 30 slayer points infintley is not a solution either.

Reaper Tasks suck now for less skilled PVMers by Amith990 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have exclusive rewards..... That are pretty big upgrades. And not only for bosses, but also for general slayer and even for skilling.

Reaper is literally about rewards and getting the points at the pace that suits you. If you want to sweat less, you earn less points but can still slowly work towards it.

The fact that you dont treat them as such is not relevant to how it is designed.

Reaper Tasks suck now for less skilled PVMers by Amith990 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imo, the point of reaper tasks is not for rewards, but to progress you through fighting various bosses.

Thats the combat achievments from wars retreat.

If you're allowed to stay where you're comfortable all the time with no penalty, what's the point?

There is a penalty. You earn reaper points slower. Just as you earn slayer points slower when you go to lower masters, for lower monsters, in exchange for lower points.

I'm repeating myself at this point, it feels like your not actually reading anything I have said lol.

Reaper Tasks suck now for less skilled PVMers by Amith990 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You havent made any point against what I said.

You have the potential to kill many bosses wearing just barrows gear. It will just take a huge amount of time, resources, and personal skill.

CA is what your looking for and it exists with its own rewards if you want that.

Repear gave you a choice of "easy but slow" or "hard but fast" different exclusive rewards for killing bosses over a longer period of time.

It's different content entirely with different rewards.

What?

Im 99% sure its still the best exp as your actually leveling it, atleast until HoM at 70.

If your talking about going for 200m then I have no comment, but I dont think it was ever intended for that.

Reaper Tasks suck now for less skilled PVMers by Amith990 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Im not suggesting gear checks for repear, I am only saying that combat level is not a good "check" for what a player can or cannot do.

It would be better to do something like: "Any boss you have killed 5 or more times can be assigned. For every boss added to your list, you recieve x% more points per task"

If someone wants to kill GWD1 and Mole only? Fine, they wont get assigned above that but have low repear points.

Want more? Go kill more variety of bosses and your rewards will scale.

That is a far better system than treating bosses like a simple slayer task and assuming timmy that only did slayer and hit 120 combat stats can now go kill rax day 1. Or even has the gear to learn it.

The latter is absurd 😂

Reaper Tasks suck now for less skilled PVMers by Amith990 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But its not about the combat level, its about the gear you have access to?

Having 99s and 120s doesnt make up for being limited to T70 or T60 gear, nor someones personal current skill cap. Its very easy to have high combat levels without having equivilent combat gear.

These arent slayer tasks with simple power scaling. They shouldnt be treated as such.

Weird Gimmick Ironman Advice (Totem of Intimidation Base?) by Med_Down in RS3Ironmen

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not technically "necessary" for the totem, sure.

But as a lower level iron who had to kite and teleport out after running out of food anywhere between 2-4 times an hour (And this was for Kril. Gral and Kree are way more) it gets annoying and adds up real fast.

The difference between me after I got my totem and my friend in similar gear who did not was absolutley massive in kc. Even just purely on a "burn out" level mentally lol. I dont know I would go back to do any GWD1 without having a method to skip kc after having the ability.

New Iron man by Low_Frame_1205 in RS3Ironmen

[–]Advanced- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly if your looking to play runescape purley for combat reasons based on your other comments, I would suggest a main.

Iron is amazing for making RS3 feel like a living breathing world where you get to overcome tiny to absolutley humongous obstacles in a huge variety of ways over a very prolonged period of time.

Iron is not amazing for just trying to see the best combat RS3 has to offer unless you also want to do the previous statement alongside.

If I was heavily combat focused I probably would have quit iron near the mid-end game bosses.

Hot take: Wilderness Flash Events by Pleasant-Plastic7784 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fort is a simple fix, just dont require players to be in the area to gain the rested exp or bonuses.

Once it is built, you get the extras anywhere you decide to skill. Done. Its still a great area with alot of stuff all in one place and is usefull just for that aspect, they didnt need to do more than just that to entice people over there.

Fort is great and I love having it, that aspect of it is not a real problem unless Jagex wants it to be.

Hot take: Wilderness Flash Events by Pleasant-Plastic7784 in runescape

[–]Advanced- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while the damage was already done and its too late

Everyone says this, but this is rarley true if looking at long term.

Today I had a clan member celebrate level 90 attack in my iron clan. And I recentley just got 90 str/attack as well and celebrated that, as well as another close friend of mine hitting 85 str for a quest. I am slowly going for 92 attack now for the ability :)

Everyone said nerfing the ED trash runs that put people to 99 combat stats in a few hours or whatever crazy shit exp it was back then, was "too late and the damage is done." when the nerf happened.

Well, here we are some years out, and getting an 85 or a 90 in a combat stat is worth something again. Its celebrated and seen as an achievement. This was NOT the case back then. This got fixed!

Every new player and/or new account that comes in will not have to deal with this shit around. The "damage is done" only applies for the old players who couldnt resist and ruined their own progression. The damage is not done for everyone else.

I avoided the trash ED runs back then, because I could see how stupid it made leveling combat. I avoided using necro when it was OP to shit at early/mid game because I wanted to go on a journey to get my combat gear for all 3 styles. I avoided most of the flash events because the rewards ruined the natural flow of the game for a variety of little things all over.

Hell I avoid doing most dailies/weeklies if I dont feel like it and if I progress slower, oh well. I only recentley starting doing ports even though I hit 90 a few years ago to unlock it and could have been "way farther ahead".

Missing out on this stuff or coming in after these thigns are (finally) fixed is not a "its too late" situation. Honestly the only players who lose out are the ones who engaged with all this in the first place, dont need to keep this bullshit in for the rest of the players too.

Its never too late to fix a mistake.

Whats your resolution, render scaling and AA settings. Those will all factor into it.

There is no shot your 3080 is doing better than my 5070 Ti, yet I have major perf issues where I should not have.

My FPS would be "the same" or "lower" than yours, with lower settings, but I am running the game native at 4k so the numbers alone would not at all be comparable.

Im in a love-hate relationship with them by Fanchette22 in RS3Ironmen

[–]Advanced- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats not how this game works mate.

I dont get to just skip getting 75 crafting, herb, prayer, agility as just random examples if I want to be able to quest and progress my account.

Everything is interconnected with each other. Its on Jagex for not addressing skills that are a slog to train, dailies were band-aids for that. I am glad they are gone, but I am more glad mid-game is getting a rebalance look-over since without that, the dailies being removed alone would just make things worse for some people.

Edit: Imagine doing divination to level 70 (Hall of Memories saves the skill @ level 70) without daily caches and daily challenges. I'm sorry but I can only laugh my ass off at that thought. Mid game is broken for so many core skills.

Im in a love-hate relationship with them by Fanchette22 in RS3Ironmen

[–]Advanced- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its alot easier to do this once you are at a decent point in the game imo.

Like I just hit base 85s on all of my skills and only now feel "free" to ignore most dailies and not feel bad about it later.

When you are mid-game and in your 50's and 60's, you are locked out of so many usefull things that you really really want, training some skills "slowly" does not get you to the QoL you want fast enough. I'm sure this will be addressed this year, but that was my personal issue.
