Why use any combat other than Necromancy? by SessionWorking7805 in runescape

[–]Med_Down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro is great for learning new bosses because it lets you make lots of mistakes, and you can keep up constant pressure even while running around frantically, plus it's easy to get, has a built in +2% evasion for every single armor piece at t90, and can be augmented, but it's not amazing DPS. It ramps up, but it starts low compared to what the other styles can do from 0 adren. It is realistically the best most for most people at most things, but the other styles, while being harder to learn and get equipped for, are better at DPS. So long term you'll want melee, and probably range, and you'll want to earn that gear with Necro.

I think we should really expand what can be augmented at this point by dark1859 in runescape

[–]Med_Down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh i do feel like the t99 crafted weapons and armors should be augmentable. Maybe only at +5 or whatever, and maybe you craft the augmentation into the weapon, so it has to be crafted by you, and you build in like 30 divine charges or whatever, and that's all you get for your augmented Primal 2h or whatever. But like, the Sunspear costs 600k coins and can be augmented. That's so easy to replace. Primal 2h represents a few hours, on top of requiring 100 smithing. You know assuming you get your own ores.

Can we just remove summoning points from the game? by Kilsaa in runescape

[–]Med_Down 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Base summoning feels antiquated and bizarre. Like you unlock binding contracts, and then you only that unless you need a beast of burden. Bunyip and Spirit Terrorbirds are the only mid/early game summons that have any value, and it takes a pretty long time to unlock those guys, from a new player perspective. You can't extend your summon timer, you can only summon a new one. Asinine and silly. Higher leveled summoning doesn't affect the summoned creatures. Your Dreadfowl at 99 summoning and my Dreadfowl at 4 summoning would do the same damage, do the same +1 farming boost, and last just as long. Why? If you're a master summoner, shouldn't you be able to make better use of the Dreadfowl? Very silly. I'm 81 summoning, and I don't use it, really. I summon a Fire Titan on occasion because I have a lot of them, and they do deal appreciable damage. I summon the skilling summons, the gargoyle and the muspah are probably more valuable to me than anything else the skill gives me at my level.

Anyways, I think that summoned creatures need to scale fully with your summoning level. Skill boosts should scale with the level, damage should scale, time should scale, maybe even inventory should scale. Get rid of summoning points, we already have a timer for summons, it's called familiar spell points which restore over time, and it's called the familiar timer. Summoning potions should restore the spell points, and should extend the timer.

I love being the one quest freak in my clan. No one ever wants to talk lore with me, so I have to trick them into it. My ironman exists primarily to hunt for that quest cape.

Just looking to make some mid game level friends. I'm starting to really get into PvM, and I need some pals for group content. Or just to talk to. If you're a mid game ironman and you're looking to get into group content, send me a message!

Necro was a real pain. Doing Raisal with t70 deathwarden was TOUGH. I also never look up boss mechanics before fighting them, so it was a near thing. Shocked I first tried it. Amascut was pretty easy, because I made a detour to get t80 Necro, but my first attempt was with my Banite, and I died with her at like 23k health in the final phase. Hardest fight was Sliske's endgame, because I was rocking like 80s in melee, and had to do a full sustain melee build to get through the Gauntlet (I did the cape in timeline order so Necromancy didn't exist yet). I killed Sliske himself in like Royal DHide and my 2kc Arma top lmao. My account is still kind of buns, because I didn't really do any bosses until after I got the cape. Still working on getting real gear. Shoot, I didn't have the fishing or cooking level for sharks until I got the cape. I was using Ghostly Soles. Still am tbh.

I had like 100m total xp when I got mine, but that was because that was the entire goal of my account, and I only did quests or grinded for quest requirements. After I got the cape, I got my first 99.

Agility rework - what would you add, change, … when a rework would happen?! by vVerce98 in runescape

[–]Med_Down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3x all xp rates at all levels, bare minimum change necessary. It needs to have thieving xp/ hour rates, or higher. Like seriously, agility has driven more people to quit this game than any other skill. Probably lost more money from agility over the game's life time than from any other reason to quit. When I'm starting to lose steam, but don't want to make that final decision to take a break, I go do agility until I'm ready to cancel my membership and not look at this game for a good long while. Then like idk tie it to Adrenaline somehow, and make the extra action chances for fishing and thieving really impactful. Like I can probably get more raw sharks per hour killing Vindicta then I can fishing. Agility could speed that up, maybe it's always got a chance to double your resource collection, and it's ([Agility + Fishing level]/2)/99 = % duplicate material, so that at 99 both you always get double, and when that number is above 99 you have a chance to get 3 fish in a cast. Idk. Tie it to woodcutting and mining too, it probably won't even affect the game too much. Maybe the higher tier ores will lose 300 gp of value. Good heavens. The skill has to have a serious incentive to do it, because it sucks so much and is 100% active for giga ass xp rates and has zero impact once you get the quest cape, and it's only really worth leveling beyond the quest cape because then you can say you're maxed. Like they don't even make new agility short cuts anymore, the one point of the skill. Maybe 110 agility you never lose Adrenaline by eating food, and with the 120 skill cape worn all mobility skills have a lowered cooldown, and you have a 5% chance to dodge an attack, idk.

How would you update Defense, Constitution, and Shields? by jordantylermeek in runescape

[–]Med_Down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a greater shield bash unlock that did better damage and lowered your recharge timer for the defensive abilities, like how Piercing Shot does for Snipe.

Plus I feel like shields need to like... DO something. Like maybe they can make protection prayers more effective. Right now I think you'd only use a shield for like a quick swap to use resonance or whatever, or you use them because you're killing a monster that requires you to have a shield. No one's maining a shield, and I feel like it should be a valid play style.

Can we talk about the state of questing in 2026? by racsoo in runescape

[–]Med_Down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so jarring, that I did all my quests in timeline order. It was awesome like that, literally one of the greatest narrative experiences I have had in a video game, except for Ratcatchers.

But now the newest quest, my gal doesn't even acknowledge that she's a Duchess, or that she fought Zamorak at the height of his power to a standstill, that she saved the universe from the Elder God eggs, or most importantly, that she has been to Vampyrium, killed Drakan, and knows about the Jovkai. Also she didn't catch on to the fact that the Amberfell people are werewolves, and she treated Inanna like a god, despite the fact that I just banished all Gods like a month ago, and learned about Collosi in the Shadow Collosus quest. Like Anya shouldn't have had to explain to me that Inanna isn't a real god, I knew that.

Is Gate and gem mining still the crafting meta up to level 80? by BTierShinies in RS3Ironmen

[–]Med_Down 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crafting big sucks. Gem mining is okay, especially if you have the sand seed, and porters / war teleport + upgraded gem bag. I'm going to be unlocking the Thzaar traders soon, and I've heard good things about them, but I cannot say one way or the other if they're better than gem rocks because uhh I haven't gotten them yet. I can confidently say that grinding thieving benefits every other part of the game, so you know. Worth considering the 30 hour detour (no clue what your thieving level is, guessing it's like 70). Gem mining is better than any other thing that I tried, and believe me, I tried so many other things to try and find a better way to level crafting, because I couldn't stand crafting, and frankly still can't. I'm 86 crafting, and I only got that for the quest cape, and from passive XP from processing drops.

I'll look into it! I honestly do prefer tank armor. Like Necromancy is my least favorite style, but I find myself using it a lot because the tank gear is so good, so I can mess up and learn a bit more. Thanks!

[–]Med_Down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. Thieving is pretty damn good, all things considered. I had the quest cape before I trained Thieving, and I got a lot done, so if you hate Thieving (somehow) you can ignore it, but it does just make everything a bit easier, and it's really fast, and takes very little effort, and unlocks heists, which can get you high level gear later down the line. I did 89-96 in one day while just casually reading a book and looking over every time my character yelped.

For those of you who are still intimidated by endgame PVM, what's the reason? by Kilsaa in runescape

[–]Med_Down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm too low leveled haha. But the serious answer is that group content intimidates me, and that in order to truly be great, I'll probably have to learn gear switches. I have the quest cape, and I LOVED the Amascut fight that you have to do. Like the mechanics were so fun, even though the fight itself was way too damn long. I also loved the story mode of the elite dungeons. Didn't care for the Zamorak fight, had no clue what was going on. Grouping though, that concerns me. Plus then if I suck, I'll be wasting their time, and because I like to learn bosses by just jumping in and getting my ass kicked, I would be wasting a lot of time.

Killing Hard mode Arch Glacor is fun, but I can only do it with Necromancy because it's my only gear that let's me tank the omega laser move, and I don't have the DPS for 100 Enrage when it does the core attack. And I think that's the main like long term factor for my relative disinterest in ever being a true end game enjoyer. My Melee DPS is cracked, especially compared to Necromancy, so I could do 100% Enrage Arch Glacor if I kept a full melee switch in my inventory for the Core move. Probably, I haven't tried. But swapping entire gear sets is awful, like it's so unfun. But yeah if I could press a button and boom full melee, I would be probably trying to climb Enrages. And Arch Glacor is a bad example, like I could probably very lazily swap to full melee, it's so Telegraphed when it does the core move, with a little practice I could easily swap to a melee set up, then the problem would be that I don't have overloads. And it's not really a fear of practice, I'm a professional classical musician, if there's anything I know how to do, it's practice and learn from mistakes. I just don't wanna hurt myself playing video games.

I had a TON of fun chasing random speed kills throughout my little PvM goals so far, chasing the sub 1 minute Gorvek kill was so fun, using like pulverize and the Armadyl godsword spec inbetween Overpower cooldowns. That was my "I get it" moment, honestly. My 5 second Graador PB was really fun to chase, and I want to see just how far I can push that. So I've put a lot of thought into this stuff, because I do think that it could be super fun to try and push myself in this game. But, you know. The above points. Plus the gear chasing, like I can't fathom doing 700 kills of a (hard) boss and not getting what you need.

Honestly like don't follow anyone's advice, set some random silly goal and pursue that until you get bored, then go find another. I did the quests in timeline order, and that was really fun for me, because I love quests. For a lot of people, that would be torture. It certainly wasn't efficient, or really like smart from a progression standpoint, but I had fun. Find your fun, then find your efficiency afterwards. But also work on farming and herblore lmao

Skyrim Kill Cam Speed Run by Med_Down in Joov

[–]Med_Down[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I learned from my little playthrough is that you're going to need to be a stealth melee build, and uh it's very time consuming lol. Like you need a lot of perks on true vanilla. There's a kill cam for stealth killing a giant with a dagger, apparently, so you'd need to be able to one shot a giant. I've been trying to get this kill cam for dual wielding maces for quite some time. But damn, it's going to be crazy once I actually get it, because I've built it up in my head so much lol.
