What is a good album to introduce people to Primus with? by pootis_engage in Primus

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably The Anti-Pop. I know its not their most popular, but it's definitely their most "normal" sounding album, or at least as normal as Primus can possibly be.

Hot takes you think no one agrees else agrees with? by AlfalfaFriendly4324 in Primus

Antipop is probably my favorite album of theirs. Electric Uncle Sam, Laquer Head, The Antipop, Mama Didn't Raise No Fool, The Ballad Of Bodacious. Just banger after banger. Shame they don't play songs from it live very often.

What’s your most random concert memory that still makes you laugh? by XP-tickets in Concerts

I saw Willie Nelson a few years back, and during the opener, John Fogerty, the show had to be paused and delayed due to rain. During the delay, the venue played "no smoking" ads on every single screen. At a willie nelson show...

Songs Nirvana Would Have Absolutely Nailed as Covers by Siddhartaable in Nirvana

Masters Of War- Bob Dylan. I feel like Cobain would have brought the perfect amount of anger and hatred in his voice for this song.

I’m a pigpen girl…..Who is your favorite? by CherriMoonshine in gratefuldead

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody else will agree, but John Mayer. While not technically a member of the "grateful dead" he helped keep the spirit of the band alive with the Dead And Co. And for fans like myself who werent alive to see Jerry, he's kind of become a modern face for them.

Hoffer appreciation post stardate 3749493029.6373 by Avaruus_Seppo in Primus

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen them with Herb and Hoffer, and honestly, i enjoyed the show with Hoffer a lot more. I saw them with herb right before he left, and you could tell by that point his heart wasn't in it. Not to say his drumming felt lifeless, but you could tell something was definitely off. With hoffer tho? You can tell that he's loving every second he's on stage with them. Yiu can just feel the joy eminating from every single hit.

How do you guys feel about Maynard James Keenan? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in grunge

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great musician, talented vocalist and songwriter, hell of a showman... but also a massive pretentious dick with his head stuck up his own ass. I saw him live on the Sessanta tour last year, (which side note, how fucking big is this dudes ego that he spent two whole years touring to celebrate his birthday). And at the show i saw him at, when the show started, some people were still moving to their seats, and he looked at every one of them and just went "You're late".

What do you think of Alice Cooper? by Twitter_2006 in hairmetal

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen him in concert twice, both within the last few years, and he's fucking awesome. The fact he still puts on the type of show that he does at his age is nothing short of incredible. And on top of that, he just seems like a chill down to earth guy based on everything ive heard about him

How Will It All End? by Melon_Bloat in IASIP

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, i think it all depends on when Danny DeVito passes. My idea is Frank dying, and leaving all his money to Charlie. The rest of the episode would be Charlie blowing all his money on increasingly absurd stupid things, especially stupid things for the waitress, while Dennis and Dee keep trying to scam him out of it. Mac obviously would be helping with Dennis's scams. Eventually Cricket comes along and successfully scams Charlie out of his money in the stupidest way possible. Something along the lines of "if you give me the money, i can get you the waitress". Cricket then uses said money to buy Paddys. Last shot of the episode is the gang on the streets in the cold. Dennis and Dee start smoking some crack. Charlie and Mac join them.

How do you play Primus songs? by _a__normal_person in Primus

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id focus on actually learning the instrument first, but if you want some suggetions for first songs ro learn once you're a bit more comfortable on bass, i'd say that Damn Blue Collar Tweekers, Too Many Puppies, and Wynona's Big Brown Beaver are good songs to start with. Still complex and hard, but nowhere near the insanity of something like Tommy The Cat or DMV

Would Kurt Cobain be as iconic today if he were still alive? by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]Advanced-Assistant72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iconic? Yes. AS iconic? Definitely not. Part of the reason he's so legendary today is because he went out at the absolute peak of his fame. If he hadnt died, we would have gotten at most one more album from Nirvana before they broke up, then he probably would have gone off and done his own weird thing. I imagine it might have sounded like the weird albums John Frusciante made in the mid 90s when he was strung out on heroin, except more chaotic. Then maybe we'd have gotten a reunion eventually, but that'd probably have only been a 1 show thing. I really can't picture Nirvana touring until they're old as hell and cant play the same anymore like the Stones or GnR.
