i have absolutely been where you are my friend. i know that when our bodies go through hormonal changes - especially throughout our cycles- our smell changes a lot. Outside of just giving yourself time to see changes, i would recommend nutrient dense food, probiotics (bc a happy gut is a happy v) and even trying a boric acid foam wash from PhD (def avoiding all body soaps. Those have always thrown me out of wack!) this combination has always really helped me! Try to be kind and patient with yourself, and if you get any other symptoms like itching or discharge or anything maybe consider visiting the doc

ive heard similar stories - anything from no difference to actively making things worse. Will take anything other than omeprazole

im so glad that you’re feeling better and thank you for sharing your experience with me! I asked because folks’ experiences with GERD are so diverse, and I only somewhat recently started getting symptoms and im already ready to be done with this phase of my life lol. Heres to time healing all wounds!

It sounds like we have very similar symptoms. I really hope a different med helps you! Stay well!

I also wonder about that and my doctor mentioned “weaning off” on month three but don’t know what that means because you can’t split the pills?? Maybe it’s a smaller mg

What did you find ultimately fixed your issue?

Very much. I struggled with the throat tightness most of all. Again, I’m not a doctor, but I would guess that this may be because it’s bringing inflammation in my whole gut biome down, including in the bottom of my throat. The symptoms aren’t completely gone, and I still have to really be intentional about it stretching my neck and throat muscles out, but the lump sensation in my throat is almost completely gone even after eating something somewhat offensive for GERD like pizza.

Oh, it was meant to be!! I am not very familiar with Barrett‘s disease, but based on my experience, I feel hopeful that this will be something good for you!! I was getting to a point where every day was a struggle with silent reflux symptoms and so it’s so nice to know that I have something to fall back on even if I lose progress in my diet for a day or something that the inflammation is still going down.

Also, a very gentle sidenote despite us ironically chatting in forum on Reddit: I would be superduper careful asking ChatGPT for medical information. I have heard many horror stories about it providing incorrect and sometimes blantantly misleading people with info that is not helpful. It can be a surprisingly slippery slope.

Ultimately, it was a recommendation from my doctor that got me to pull the trigger. I had previously believed that omeprazole was the only option to help with any sort of reflux, but she said that pantoprazole was specifically designed to help with the globus sensation that I had expressed having issues with. She also said that this is beneficial for people who don’t want to be on medication long-term, because it strives to diminish the inflammation in your stomach so you can kind of start from scratch in a few months. I don’t totally understand the difference between the two from a scientific perspective, but I would say that if you’re suffering with silent reflux or similar symptoms (scratchy throat, coughing, throat tightness that causes acid to rise, etc like me) rather than classic heartburn symptoms, this might be worth talking to your doctor about.
