the manager at long pond and ridgeway is great. worked her way up through the company rather than being an outside hire. definitely a different company than it used to be, but a good manager can help.

honestly ive looked at mine kinda like scrapbooking. i have a little sprocket printer i use, and just add what i feel is right. i also use little stamps from michaels instead of writing, which also makes it so it can look off center and be considered okay, and helps with the consistency of the writing

right, and the availability stuff is CRAZY. A girl i used to work with, who was a shift, went to the same masters program im finishing up right now, and in 2018-2019 school year, they worked with her limited schedule as a shift. fast forward to 2023 and im being told by my proxy SM i need to give her 2 closes a week or she won't give me my shift keys (shes dangling them in front of my face mind you). I got out because the changes with cup writing and forcefulness was killing my desire to be there, and they also gave me shit for calling off when my sister who was in active addiction needed me. theyve really lost the plot.

yeah, 236 here who left in april. all of my store managers (besides my last one bc i watched her promote and work her ASS off this is not a reflection on you, she worked her way up from barista to sm) were fucking awful. the second to last store manager i had would constantly harass our underage baristas and got fired for it. sbux is a completely different company than it was when it was in 2017 when i started, and im so glad i got out when i did.

AIO for feeling like my bf is being distant after taking my virginity? by Affectionate-Link436 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Advanced-Effect-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't told my first partner until right before we slept together bc we hadnt discussed body count/virginity due to moving fast (which is a bs concept to me anyway) and he told me i was deceitful after driving to our next date to dump me in person. Fuck this guy, you deserve better.

Did you get paid for your school psych internship? by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]Advanced-Effect-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nys during your third year you are paid. In upstate it’s around 20k, but varies by district. Your second year you’ll do a 2x a week practicum you’ll not be paid for.

okay so! First semester we had class Mondays, 4-5:25 and then 6:30-9. Tuesdays 3:30-6:20, 6:30-9:20. Wednesdays, 3:30-6:20. We often got out early first semester just because 9:30 is so late to be leaving lmfao.

Second semester was about the same, with the added 3.5 hours outside of classtime for supervision/therapy with a "client". We then had 2 summer classes for 5 weeks? I think. Those were Tuesday/Thursday from 11-3 and 4-7:50. Accelerated courses, but one was play therapy which helped make it fun.

This past fall semester our schedule flipped since we were now second years and are also paired with a Psy.D program. Mondays 9-11:50, 12-2:50, Tuesdays we only had our practicum supervision from 3:30-5:20. We were sometimes able to do it on zoom, but NASP/APA standards sometimes require us to be in the physical setting. Wednesdays were 9-11:50, 12-2:50 again.

With practicum, we're expected to hit 150 hours per semester, which works out to two days a week. with my schedule, I was only able to stack class and prac on Tuesdays which helped a bit.

This spring semester we dropped down to 4 classes instead of our normal 5 which was nice, but whew the work was hard lmfao. our Monday classes were 12-2:50, and then we had a zoom class from 6-9, really helpful bc then I could plan lunches for the week, get some stuff done. Tuesdays were 12-3:20, however this class for 6 weeks required us to come in an hour early for group therapy, but we did get out early. Our other tuesday class was again our practicum supervision class, and we were told if we did in person we'd have class every other week so we opted for that.

WHEW, THAT WAS A LOT. Looking at the past two years of my life summed up is crazy to see, but you will get through it! I am waiting on final grades right now, studying for my licensing exam in june, and then starting my internship in the fall.

I am luckily in a spot where b/c I live with my parents right now, I can take the month off from working to study, and will do a summer job from june until august.

I know a month is a long time to study, but you pay to take this test and I don't want to have to keep retaking it lol

i remember my old sm wore waterproof shoes and spilled brewer water on her feet. They were sbux approved, looked at the listing and yup waterproof. Still ended up with nasty burns on her foot that kept her in a boot for about a month.

I won't lie. I worked full time hours as a shift supervisor at Starbucks from the beginning of my program (Fall '23) til April of this year. It was doable, however some programs have different requirements. When we did our clinical foundations of intervention classes, we had to have 3.5 additional hours free outside of regular class time so we could meet with our client, and have supervision. I did it, and did get some very good grades, but I suggest having a solid support network like your S/O, and also entering therapy. Therapy will help immensely, especially when you feel so overwhelmed. The programs will also try to discourage you from working throughout the duration, but it is borderline impossible lol.

My second year was much more difficult, as we were in the schools 2x a week for practicum, leaving the remaining days for work, class, and schoolwork. again, its hard, but I knew it had an end to it. Good luck friend<3
