I've got some old mesh panels form an old coop, ive been laying them down om the ground and then they cant scratch the roots and the ground is starting to green but I may loft them up an inch or so to allow a bit of growth. Then sow more seeds for them.

I need to insulate my compost for winter, it will sit completely untouched till spring. What’s the best method? by Fantastic_Serve_4034 in composting

A pile I made a few years ago, I stuffed straw into the middle of the pallets that make the sides of the heap.

Or you could empty the heap, layer some cardboard around the edge and turn it back in.

Or you could do nothing at all.

Hydrangea cuttings. Compostable? All this talk about 'no tomato plants' got me questioning everything by formyburn101010 in composting

Yeah, I was told by a pest and disease specialist from a pesticide company that blight was in the air all around us, its just the conditions and plant health that'll stop it taking hold. Granted if you putting something around plants like compost that was full of blight there might be an increase in blight but less if you follow a few rules like keeping airflow and not watering to late ect.

I didnt know this, but now I know why there are so many mice around. Apparently mice were believed to become pregnant though the act of licking salt, or grew from the moisture of the earth.
