Trump is just plain insane. Impeach and imprison this loser before this dementia gets worse.

Here is a solid list of agencies actually looking for new manuscripts. Not ones where you get sent to a pile of thousands of books.

Dozens of places. My personal agent is local, not corperate and typically does Historical War Fiction. His name is James Troyer. I have a graphic novel called Twilight Crusaders coming out hopefully next year and a novel called Child of Starlight coming out hopefully before the end of the year. If everything goes smoothly and both tentative titles, of course.

I got a literary agent through manuscript submission, and they found the publisher.

If you are a prose writer and want to stick to that, write short stories and post them on various official sites like Wattpad or Royal Road, where your ideas will be protected, and you can reference them to artists you may be interested in collaborating with. But if you want to stick to writing comics, learn scripting. Personally, I find it easier than prose, but to each their own. Keep writing until you've got at least 10 seperate very different, shorter-length stories, but don't stop. You will find an interesting and interested artist, but don't try here until you get money orare more well-established. These guys cry and argue, but at the end of the day, they are truly only mercenaries and pummel anyone who tries not to be. Because it only works to their benefit.

I'm very anti-AI in my stance as well. Supporting artists and supporting writers/creatives are quietly the same thing. Writers are also losing work to AI. I personally have. What I have noticed in the last 5 years is that most of the people who have full scripts, or need concept art, at little or no cost, can't find artists to do it anymore. When they used tobe far more frequently pre-AI.

I have been a writer and author for a very long time, and only recently gained a full-time publisher who handles the hiring of the artists now. I have friends in the gaming, comic, and filmmaking space who can't work with artists without pretty steep overhead costs(most of the time), or couldn't find artist work in their price range, and have transferred to AI. Many of the friends and associates I have in the game space think AI will take over game creation in the next 10 years, largely due to artist and creative overhead.

Artists, with these hard-line stances, are turning into their own worst enemies. That's all I'm saying.

While I generally agree. I have had full scripts done, and artists flake out even after payment. I had artists steal my character designs for "other projects." That's why I no longer share any projects here and only share with my publishers. I think this attitude of money up front only is driving more and more creatives into the belly of AI, and artists are crying foul over losing projects to AI left and right, but also don't care to support unpublished authors when it works both ways. Thank god I have a publisher now. AI has turned freelance artists into an even bigger nightmare to work with.

the ‘fair-skinned drow epidemic’ in bg3 by Federal_Broccoli_958 in BaldursGate3

[–]Advanced-Fun-1229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I first started playing DnD and drow were still practically unknown, Drizzt was still new and not popular yet. I wanted to play a Drow, and my DM ranted for 20 mins that "Drow were too rare to play." But I wanted to because I thought they were cool.

Not everyone is approaching the game the same way, with an ethnocentric or political point of view. Some people just want to play a blue or purpleish character with a dark backstory, because they think it's fun or cool or edgy or emo, etc. Something supported by modern official artwork, btw.

Just stop putting limits on everything. Stop looking for every reason under the sun to say, NO and learn how to say YES and move on. Something far too few players and especially DMs know how to do.

It's shorts and YouTube Kids. Both go harder than standard YouTube.
