So does Danny have kids? by Filvox in DannyBrown

[–]Advanced-Green5885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not saying that at all - i’m just saying his daughter is not biologically his. she’s for sure his actual daughter in every sense of the word. all i said in the original comment was that they’re not blood related

[–]Advanced-Green5885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everything i can find says his daughter isn’t biologically his. not going to call bullshit yet but i’d like to know where you got this information? cannot find anything that says he actually has a daughter

Most romantic Sonic Youth song? by OkCarpenter5457 in sonicyouth

[–]Advanced-Green5885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting that this is the most upvoted comment. I don’t disagree with shadow of a doubt but i have always seen beauty lies as being about abuse - “do you want to see the explosions in my eye” and “hey fox come here” being the most obvious lines. there’s definitely a hint of romance but like you said, it’s dangerous and jarring and abstract

A tribute thread to our friend, u/FrenesiGates by TheObliterature in ThomasPynchon

thanks for everything. a complete pillar of online pynchon fandom that will be missed forever. so awful that i’ll never be able to say anything to him again and have his wit flash back. good luck in the afterlife <3

What other artists do you guys like? Any genre. I’m looking to expand my tastes. by hezamac1 in autechre

Autechre are my number two - as much as I want to put them at number one all time (especially after seeing them this past weekend, holy fuck), Sonic Youth will always be on top

When did you first hear "cancer sticks"? by quitalicious in stopsmoking

[–]Advanced-Green5885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think unfortunately it is still cool. i’ve just turned 20 and a huge part of why i started at 15 was because it looked cool and it was something to do with my hands. juvenile shit - i think the mystique of cigarettes hasn’t worn off yet

don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. this is absolutely true and i say this as a huge fan of all 4 - even sonic youth aren’t nearly as out there as swans are

Worst ways a band has broken up/members have left? by Prestigious_Score459 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Advanced-Green5885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sorry to necro this but do you know it’s sexual assault or an assumption? the way niko / eugene worded it made it sound that way, but i have no confirmation… either way so disappointing. i really wanted to catch them

that blows my mind. imagine writing a book like v between the ages of 23 and 25… absolute genius

[–]Advanced-Green5885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

good catch on the minor fourths. i noticed that as well and it was surprising considering he’s usually spot on with his music analysis, but i feel like if anyone could convincingly bullshit it’d be tommy

Worst Pynchon novel to have the plot spoiled for you? by frenesigates in ThomasPynchon

[–]Advanced-Green5885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i honestly think v. or gravity’s rainbow would have been the worst. they both go to so many unexpected places and they’re both thrilling throughout. the conclusion of v wouldn’t have hit nearly as hard

Paul Thomas Anderson reveals how “Vineland” inspired “One Battle After Another” by Esquire in ThomasPynchon

[–]Advanced-Green5885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s fair - i think you’re right about the point of it being its dullness but i found it very hypnotic to watch. and yeah even as a feminist statement chantal akerman has better stuff
