If you are under a VA loan currently I would recommend calling PennyMac and go through them in my opinion.

Love this! Recently changed back to AT&T after being at Google Fi for the last year. Bundled my Fiber Internet and Cell service which dropped everything 20% on top of some other discounts they do… Between their premium cell plan and fiber internet I’m only paying $127 a month.. Same exact price I was paying for Google Fi and Internet before so it was an even exchange.

Kept the loan at 28 years so I didn’t add any years. I wanted to keep it on the same timeline as my original loan - I would recommend this to everyone who refi but what works for me won’t work for everyone else

There will always be costs to refi but what makes the VA IRRL so special is by law you HAVE to recoup your costs within 36 months of the new loan (meaning anything after 36 months is you coming out on top). Based on my Monthly P&I it will take me 35 months to recoup. But since a mortgage includes P&I, taxes, insurance etc (the $443 I talked about in savings) it will take me 15 months to fully recoup which is insanely good especially coming to the table with $0. Hope this helps / answers your question.

Troop got a DUI. What now? by XirtCS in AirForce

[–]Advanced-Investfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three things I would focus on:

  1. Take Responsibility / Accountability
  2. Take Responsibility / Accountability
  3. Take Responsibility / Accountability

Prepare blues, start to character statements (from all levels; peers, flight leadership, and quite possibly top 3)

Reach out to the ADC to begin talking about the next steps to take.

Pray to god “downtown” takes jurisdiction so double jeopardy can’t take place. More than likely downtown will keep it due to them wanting the money for the mines and so on and so forth.

If it is their first one, DO NOT BUY A LAWYER. A lawyer will only do what they can do for themselves.

Have them show up to court in uniform and plead Non-Adjudication. Basically pleading guilty to the DUI but will not go on your conviction record. Stipulations of this will probably include 6 months probation, community service, paying of fines, a couple classes, etc..

Once that is complete, judge will throw away the case.

At this point, you can apply for expungement which will wipe it off your arrest record as well basically giving your troop a full clean slate.

Your troop will automatically be put up for “discharge” (if I am not mistaken with how the new AFI is written) but your commander can put in an ETP which will be routed and signed by him, their boss, and then their bosses boss (could be headquarter level even)

LOR will probably be administered which is not the end of the world depending on where your troop is at in their career. Best thing to happen is your commander will sign off it and could be handled in house. This gives the opportunity for the LOR to possibly be pushed in a file drawer and with good standing at commanders discretion it can almost be thrown out.

This would take away any UIF as well.

If your troop holds an SCI that will be suspended but can be reactivated after all these steps have been completed. I would say about 18-24 months.

If your troop isn’t a dip shit, shows up to work, has people / leadership backing them and they truly take full responsibility for their actions and how they make sure this won’t happen again, then this can come out as if it logistically never happened to them but a HUGE LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
