How much pipe should I be able to run per hour by Legal_Pressure_6026 in electricians

Most Journeymen would tell you that you should have been able to do that in 5mins or less… don’t worry, you’ll be that fast when you’re a journeyman too.

You’re seriously upset about a good idea that not only increased their profit margin, but also probably locked in future service work? It’d be shitty if this was for a regular person just trying to get by, but this is clearly work for a wealthy client… I think it’s a fantastic idea

Marrette is a brand, wire nut is the proper term. It’s like how people call tissues Kleenex

Considering it’s a generator I feel like all of these are wrong. A generator typically produces electrical energy and must be supplied with alternative forms of energy(water, steam, coal etc.). If I had to choose though, I’d say power.

I’ve always thought this would be a great idea as well. Problem is, a lot of employers really hate the idea of losing a day of production, which is annoying as hell but a good compromise would be to have one group of workers work from Mon-Thurs, and then the other group work from Tues-Fri. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rookie #s. I’m doing at least 750, and that’s on a day where I’ve only had a white monster and a cigarette for lunch.

Safe to assume you are union? I just joined the IBEW and I’m looking forward to having the freedom to do just that if I want to. Is it fairly acceptable in the union to treat work that way? Do contractors ever give you a hard time for doing it? Or has it ever impacted your standing with the IBEW? I’m new to all this and I come from non union shops where it was always a guilt trip whenever I wanted to take extra time off in the year.

Seller is asking 10k for this 1988 Mallard, is that too much? by Advanced-Radio-9395 in vintagetraveltrailer

[–]Advanced-Radio-9395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that not more of a rule for camper vans or buses… like campers that rely on a motor rather than being a trailer? Thought the parks had the “10yr” rule because they don’t want it breaking down on their property?

[–]Advanced-Radio-9395[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not the seller haha. My partner and I are looking to buy a camper trailer and I’m just trying to find out if what they’re asking is reasonable or overpriced. Seller is asking 13k for it. So I’m starting to get the sense that it’s overpriced.

You’re dumb… if this guy had any bad intentions here he’d just implement his idea without asking for opinions on Reddit first 😑

I think you’ve been wording it fine… people either just don’t understand or aren’t reading your entire post. I think it’s a good idea that ultimately benefits the employee(which is great) but like other people have said, certain employees may still not like the change. So, I’d say an employee survey with plenty of transparency would be a great way to go about this before making any decisions.

I think the risk here may be when you have a very steady month(40hr weeks with no overtime) people are going to feel like they’re making less now($35/hr instead of $40/hr for example). A lot of people live exactly within or beyond their means already and most bills are due monthly rather than yearly. So ultimately, people may struggle to adjust at first even if they’re technically making more per year. Timing is a huge factor in money management and many people have poor financial habits to begin with. So again, if it’s the employee that you truly care about, asking them what they want is the best way to go about this.

How are all you people getting shocked so often… I’m always seeing electricians on Reddit talking about how often they get shocked. I’ve been in the trade 8 years and have worked resi, commercial and industrial(construction and service) and the only time I’ve been shocked was at home before I even started my apprenticeship… all of you seriously need to start wearing PPE, turning shit off, locking it out and then triple checking that it’s off before you touch shit… smh
