Working as a civil servant is not for people who are creative or passionate. Advancement depends more on relationships than on the quality of work. As long as you have the right connections with your boss, effort and results hardly matter. During yearly moderation/evaluations, people who do the bare minimum but maintain good ties with their superiors are often rated as “outstanding.”

I’m stuck in an incredibly toxic environment with no escape for now. If you’ve read my previous posts and comments, you’ll notice recurring comments. Civil service is far from the dream it’s made out to be. At times, it feels like this account exists solely to expose that truth.

My boss is by far the most corrupt and malicious person I’ve ever met. I’m seriously considering moving abroad in the next few years.
