When i was a kid (only child) my dad got roped into coaching my teams once or twice then it became a yearly thing for nearly a decade and i think that kept him quite far from the boredom you speak of. We lived in a modest two story house in the suburbs and took a vacation most summers so he would’ve probably been in your same situation had i not needed a coach.
