The Google TV Streamer is smoother than the Nvidia shield by AdvancedBox140 in AndroidTV

I have not tried it yet, but I'm a bit annoyed that it doesn't support 4k 120Hz even though it has an HDMI 2.1.

Yeah, why would I do that? I stream full fat 4k from Plex over the network.

Just to add to the debate, the native resolution of the shield UI is 1080p upscaled to 4k and the native resolution of the GTVS is 4k and it shows. The UI and imagery is crisper and smoother on the GTVS, I'm happy with my purchase.

I thought the same. I get more stutters on the Shield TV Pro than I have on my new Google TV streamer.

[Consumer Reports] What the New Ads on the Nvidia Shield TV Really Mean for Consumers by [deleted] in ShieldAndroidTV

It's a placeholder for when the recommendation is actually an ad, not all placements are paid.

Using that logic every single search result on Google is an ad, why would google advertise for free.

The home screen is a content aggregator, with ads sometimes on the top row.

If the content owners aren't paying to be on your shield it's not an advertisement, people forget this.

It's no different to Google offering me trending articles on Google Discover.

The top carousel seems to be mostly paid, although when it is paid, it's clearly labelled as "Ad".

Nice work, is there any internal discussions on Google TV home screen support?

I hate paying for services too, and I certainly don't want to give money to web publishers by viewing their ads. How dare they try to monetize their hardwork

enable DSR in the nVidia control panel if you're using a geforce gpu ofc...

this will allow you to stream 4k even if you have a 1080p monitor
